RATES HIGH, SETTLEMENT SLOW

Huge 50 % rate increase after 1 year on healthy puppy. settlement of claims very slow, the old VPI did a much better job until purchased by Nationwide.

Left hanging in the wind now that I have an elderly dog.

I've been a client for the last 6 years and very happy with my pet insurance until recently. My last claim on December 20th took about 2 months to be paid out on. I know it was partly my fault - I was notified that my claim was illegible, so when I resubmitted, it gets kicked back to the "wait 30 days until you even look at it" pile. Then it got kicked back again because I didn't put a diagnosis on it. So I'm back to waiting 30 more days until you even look at it! Then come to find out, because heart murmurs are common in the breed of my dog, you'll only pay out $275 per year on this condition. I've been paying monthly premiums for 6 years knowing that one day my pet will become elderly and need a little more help medically than a young pup. My claims previously have been pretty routine. Now that he needs a little more help - daily medication for his heart murmur, I definitely feel like I'm left hanging in the wind by my pet insurance. I know I probably can't switch pet insurance very cost effectively now that I have a 9 1/2 year old dog, but with my next dog, I will probably look into other companies.

Claims are so easy, they almost fill out themselves!

The claims are so easy to submit. I appreciate how easy it is to print out the form, attach the documents, and fax it in. I can do this at work in under 5 minutes! Customer service has always been so helpful.

Very good insurance

I recently got the insurance for my puppy, I went in on a Saturday and had his first puppy visit, I was told how to submit a claim and I just took a picture of the receipt, but Tuesday I had the reimbursement back in my bank. It was fast and simple and I believe it is a very good insurance!

Online claim submissions

Please, join the digital age. Fax and snail mail are horrible ways to communicate with you customer and make them submit claims. Add capabilities to let me submit and track the claim online.

Thank goodness I have my dog insured with Nationwide pet insurance!

The wellness benefit is wonderful, and is a reminder of the importance of preventative tests/meds to keep Fletch healthy.

I am highly satisfied with my policy which includes major medical and wellness benefits for Fletch. It provides peace of mind knowing that he has coverage just like I have medical insurance coverage.

Best decision I’ve made regarding my dog

I’ve worked with other insurance companies in the past and they were a waste of time and money. My dog was a real sick pupper so there was a lot of vet visits and money spent. They wouldn’t give me the time and fought every claim. ASPCA has been the exact opposite. Incredible customer service. Willing to answer every question no matter how small and happy to help on top of it. When my Lily had her second ACL surgery they were there for us on reimbursements, called to check up on her recovery and covered physical therapy. The weight off my shoulders this second time around was immeasurable. I reconmend this pet insurance to every friend I have with pets and even people on the street I run into walking Lily.
