I strongly recommend healthy paws to anyone and everyone who owns an animal. My dog had an accident around the holidays and had to go into emergency surgery. With the help of our insurance we were able to get the best care for our dog. They assured me throughout the process to not worry and didn’t make me feel like I was just another number. They took care of everything and gave us the piece of mind we needed. It happened the week of Christmas and they couldn’t have made it any easier and hassle free for my family and I. We've never had pet insurance before, but then again, we've never owned a lab/retriever mix before, either. When we adopted our dog she was 15 months old. Our very wise vet advised us that with Greta it wouldn't be "if" she ate something she shouldn't, it would be "when." He suggested that we get pet insurance and advised us that while there were a couple of other options, Trupanion was very good. It turns out that that was an understatement. One year later, after a week of watching our girl get sicker and sicker, it was clear that Greta needed surgery to remove a blockage. (It was awful and scary and upsetting but she is now fine and not likely to learn from her experience.) When handed the bill - which we hadn't even discussed with the vet - we were relieved to see that the vet's office was able to submit the claim themselves leaving us with only our deductible (we have the "Standard" plan) and 10% of the total bill. And when we realized that the visits to the vet right before the surgery, the X-rays, the IVs, and other care hadn't been included but were all part of the same 'episode' that we'd already paid for, we submitted those and Trupanion instantly processed refunds to us. What company anywhere is that efficient? If you have to go through a dreadful medical experience with your sweet pet, how wonderful it is to have the support, promptness, and efficient follow-up of a company like Trupanion. I strongly recommend this company to everyone with a dog!!

We were caught off guard when our two year old dog quite suddenly needed surgery to remove an intestinal blockage. We were grateful we had pet insurance but didn't know until our experience how lucky we were to have Trupanion. You made a difficult situation infinitely better not just because of the financial coverage but because payments were lightning fast. Amazing, really. Our vet was able to bill you directly for the surgery, and visits and procedures preceding the surgery that we'd paid for ourselves (not knowing surgery was going to be unavoidable) were reimbursed in the blink of an eye. I have and will recommend you to everyone I know with a pet.
