I used to rave about Trupanion - quick processing quick payment and incredibly friendly customer service - real people who answered the phone in a few rings.
I used to rave about Trupanion - quick processing, quick payment and incredibly friendly customer service - real people who answered the phone in a few rings. Until a few weeks ago. Trupanion made an error on my claim and charged my full deductible on medication my dog has taken for years. I've been a client since 2016. Instead of processing my claim after I brought it to their attention and they confirmed YES - it was their error, they said I needed to wait another 2 - 14 days before the adjustor had time to review it again. Its been a week since the error was brought to their attention with no word the adjustor has looked at it. Yet, my premium goes up every year and I have never been late or missed a payment.

Worst Pet Insurance/experience
I have Healthy Paws for my 8 year old mixed breed dog, have paid my ever increasing premiums on time every month without complaint. Have had this insurance policy since he was 12 weeks old and have only had 1 claim prior to this last one. Submitted claim after $8500 TPLO surgery, received and email and update on their app that my claim was processed and approved and I would have my reimbursement in 3-5 days from 02/14 - called on 02/28 because I had not received my reimbursement. Was told that the agent was going to put me on hold while she looked into it further as she could not see any notes that the reimbursement was actually issued, call was then disconnected. Called again and was told, "well, we are at the mercy of the USPS, so not our fault if you didn't get reimbursement". After speaking to multiple levels of supervisors, best answer I could get was, "we will open a finance case, no idea how long it will take for them to start working on it or get the new reimbursement out to you". Asked for a call back from someone in finance and was told I would get one within 48 hours. Did not get a call, then got an email from a customer liaison manager who advised she ensured my claim was escalated to finance and if I wanted a call back, to give her dates and times. Responded with my dates and times (any day, any time between 0800 - 1700 EST). No call. Called again this week and was told case was not escalated and the the Customer Service Liaison I was speaking to would escalate it. Unfortunately I am stuck with Healthy Paws now because if I change companies, the 2 issues he has had would be considered preexisting. Worst choice I ever made was Healthy Paws

Its so easy to submit a claim and the "wait time" is quick. MetLife Pet Insurance is prompt, convenient and the C/S department is extremely helpful.

I have always found Healthy Paws to be extremely easy to deal with. They process claims quickly and explain the benefits thoroughly, but straightforward enough to understand what is covered and what is not.

The Best Coverage!
I am so grateful that I have coverage with Trupanion. Making a claim could not be easier and the coverage is generous. They do not nickel and dime like other pet insurance companies that I have had in the past. I encourage anyone with a pet to get insurance as veternary care can be so very expensive. We just had a blood test that tested for 3 things and the cost was 800 dollars. Trupanion paid approximately 500 of that. The claim was processed in less than 24 hours and I got an email with the amount they would pay. I am so happy with this insurance company.

Trupanion approved and reimbursed us for our claims quickly. The online claim process was very easy and straight forward. We appreciate having peace of mind knowing if something happens to our family dog weâll have Trupanionâs support.

Stress Relief!
The claim process was fairly easy. I received status updates regularly and when I called to to request help, was treated so kindly and had all my questions answered and no matter who I spoke with, was always asked how my fur baby was doing and was told to give her a hug. I found that gesture very sweet and caring. I highly recommend Trupanion Pet Insurance. It is a good feeling to have someone in your corner when your baby is not feeling well. Thank you so much.

This is definitely not how we like to do business and apologize that our customer service did not meet your or our expectations. The reimbursements were sent out on our end as soon as your claims were reviewed and completed. Unfortunately, we have no control over the checks once they are in the hands of the postal service.
