Awesome service, caring staff

My poor puppy has been thru the ringer - bit on the face at 10 weeks, and tearing both CCL's before she was 2 1/2 years old. That's a lot of surgeries and a lot of expenses! Healthy Paws is so fast at getting my reimbursements back, and all my correspondences with the staff have been great - they seem to really love pets and care about the health of my dog. She was able to get the physical therapy she needed, it was affordable for me, and we are back on the hiking trail!

Premium is high

I'm not confident that Trupanion actually has any value - the premium cost is high, and the deductibles are also high and don't include the office visit fee. I'm beginning to realize I'd have to have a $2,000 expense before Trupanion would pay a dime. If I just saved and invested the $2,000 each year, in five years I'd have enough to cover most pretty substantial expenses. That might be a better option. I just haven't decided yet.

Good coverage, takes forever to get reimbursed.

Nationwide gives great coverage and seems to have covered every visit to the vet thus far. The one downside is that it has taken months to get reimbursements. But the coverage has paid for itself at this point, so overall positive.

Disappointed

Buster had surgery to remove an adenoma tumor from his right adrenal gland. The cost of surgery to save his life was close to $5000. I sent all the costs and received less than $1000 from the total bill. There was sentence that said I may be entitled to additional money but did not explain what information was needed. I recently sent more info from both the Surgeon and the internal medicine specialist.

Awesome coverage!

My dog Dutch had to have a couple of procedures done to get him feeling better. Without Nationwide insurance, it would not have been possible for me to afford the procedures. I am so thankful and appreciative of not only the coverage, but how quickly the process moved along so I could receive the necessary payments.

Better understanding of coverage

I called this morning to try to better understand what type of coverage I will have should I proceed with a treatment for my cat (Hyperthyroidism). When I specifically inquired about the I-131 treatment, the ph representative could not confirm or deny the coverage, kept misunderstanding my questions, and only when she did (after I explained several times), she yet again would not say what type of plan or reimbursement I will be receiving. As a customer, how can I decide what level of financial responsibility I am willing to incur if no clarity is given about coverage? I was not asking to have a claim pre-approved, all I was asking was for a better understanding of my plan. This experience has truly given me the desire to cancel it altogether!
