Pet Parents Cannot Afford to Not Have Pet Insurance
Never in a million years did I think I would have a Vet bill this high, but it did. Leo, my 13 year old cat had three severe complications all within a two week time period. I considered letting him go, but the Vet told me had a good prognosis and I had Trupanion Pet Insurance on top of that so we proceeded. One thing led to the other and when it was all done I ran up three credit cards and maxed out one of them to pay Leo's bill. I'm happy to announce that Leo is doing great as if the whole incident never even happened. I'm even more thrilled that as promised Trupanion paid paid almot 90% of the bill minus a couple of very small exclusions. To anyone considering pet insurance, it is my opinion that you can't afford to not have it. I wouldn't have a Leo right now had it not been for Trupanion. The monthly plan pales in comparison to what a major vet bill can run. It is so worth it and I am so grateful for Trupanion.

I can't believe I am giving an Insurance Company 5 Stars!
You purchase insurance for the unexpected. The times you can’t predict & the unfathomable expenses that come with them. Whether you go to a breeder or a shelter to find your spirit animal, you know that on average what you’re adopting will pass before you. The breed will come with sickness, accidents, routine care, & more. If you’re an animal lover like me you understood this before you signed on to be a caregiver of a such a beautiful spirit, one of God’s creatures. I paid for insurance for my baby for close to 8 years. She had the top of the line package with $30K maximum life, 10% co-pay, & annual coverage of $435 for dental & routine cosmetic care. This cost $135 month. Those who understand how insurance works know the beginning pays for the end, & that’s when you need it most. It’s also the most humane way to share existence with your animal, no different than yourself. Would you ditch your healthcare for a gun to the head because you got hurt? Why should the one you love be any different? Obviously there are exceptions to this, I understand that, but one of the nicest things my mother, another animal lover like me, said in the end was, “you did everything you could do, & that’s more than the majority of pet owners out there.” Crying on the phone that sentiment brought me peace. In under four months I watched $20K vanish from my account & I don’t regret a penny of it. The folks at @embracepetins were the most empathetic team I could have imagined. Yes, I’m talking about an insurance company. They pre-authorized $9K in 45 minutes in the ER for an MRI. Humans can’t do that! To me, my baby should have the same level of care as I do. Before you say economics, I kept her coverage active through multiple tours of unemployment income. That’s not easy. I cut meals, stoped driving, & more just to make sure she was safe. Right now I feel guilty looking at another animal breed online. If I went to a shelter I’d take all of the cats. I’ll own again one day, & Embrace earned a customer for life. After I pass too, because my will is going to require insurance for the animal if they want my shit. You may not agree with these beliefs, that’s ok, we are not dating. ✝️🇺🇸😿

Great Pet Insurance!
Healthy Paws is great! We have used them for both of our dogs since they were puppies. They have saved us SO much money for smaller medical issues over the years. Recently, our dog had to have ACL surgery which cost $6000- Healthy Paws covered almost all of it. They also refunded us via direct deposit in 2 days. I am very pregnant, so this was very helpful to get the surgery paid off quickly. Their website is quick and easy to use. They even checked on my dog after the surgery. Would highly suggest!

Poor coverage and high prices
We got Embrace for our dog as pet insurance. It was difficult to contact them for account changes and it took a long time for our claims to get processed and denied. My husband and I both tried to add me to the account several times but they never responded to our request. Every claim we requested was denied coverage because it didn’t fall into a very specific series of requirements. After we moved states, they upped the price to $300 per month (!!!) without obtaining a confirmation that we were okay paying that rate and they still denied our claims. They work very hard at reviewing records to find ways to not reimburse you. We have spent thousands of dollars for coverage with $0 reimbursed. I’m in the medical field and the logic they’ve used to deny our claims would not fly for human beings. However, they get away with it by simply not being responsive to emails and inquiries. Again, I work in the medical field and this is the worst type of insurance that I’ve had to deal with.

Healthy Paws Makes Claims Easy
Our four and a half year old dog seemed "off" and was going to into his crate, facing the wall multiple times a day. We discovered that he had a badly cracked pre-molar causing him pain. The surgery to remove it was expensive; about three thousand dollars, but only a couple of scanned documents and a few weeks weeks later Healthy Paws reimbursed two thirds of the cost. And our little love is back to his smiling happy self. Human health insurance companies could learn a thing or two from Healthy Paws.

Better than human medical insurance
Met Life Pet has been great for us. It is far easier than our human insurance. Just take your pet to the vet and get a copy of the bill and the SOAP notes. Take a picture in the app and click submit. It usually takes 2 to 5 days for us and we get reimbursed directly into our checking account.

As per the policy we do require medical records for all enrolled pets in order to process claims. At minimum we require the notes from the enrollment exam as outlined in your policy. When you enrolled online and prior to completing the enrollment process, you were asked and checked off a box noting that an examination was performed within a specific time frame based on the age of the pet you were enrolling. When an enrollment examination is not performed prior to enrollment or during the waiting period, this will affect the last day of the waiting period. Not having an enrollment exam may result in the denial of claims related to any signs and symptoms that are present at the time of the exam. Claims denied for pets due to a lack of an enrollment exam are denied under the policy's waiting period exclusion, which is currently the case for your pet. If your baby has *any* prior vet visits to the one noted in our customer care team’s email to you, let us know.
