We're in the midst of our filing our first Trupanion claim in the three years that we've had Trupanion pet insurance for all three of our shelterdogs. Natalie, Tanya, and Jen, the three Trupanion representatives that we've worked with on this claim have been positive, patient, and professional, throughout! As Claims Specialist, Jen, was able to push the CRITICAL pre-approval through the very same day! Thank you for helping us be able to afford critical back surgery on our 3 y/o Shih Tzu Benjamin, aka Pooter. Were it not for having Trupanion, we have been forced to make decisions based on our finances-- rather than the excellent prognosis for a full recovery that his surgeon affirms. quick resolution of the claim and trupanion as always lives up to their obligation

I had a Trupanion policy from 1/4/2018 through 2/25/2021 (38 months). (new paragraph)
 My girl Luna went suddenly and profoundly blind in both eyes at 7:30 pm on Feb. 4th 2021. The diagnosis by an ophthalmologist was “anterior uveitis OU with secondary glaucoma OU” (OU means both eyes) and because no secondary signs of anterior uveitis were found, it was deemed to be an acute, but severe, onset. In other words, there was no existing pre-condition.

The processing of my claim for Luna’s condition was the worst-ever claims experience in my life. Trupanion’s employees did not read—or outright ignored—the reports from my vets working on Luna’s case, fabricated false statements of existing pre-conditions, and did not answer my questions even when I sent them in a succinct, written form. (new paragraph) I considered appealing but after seeing what was required, it was ever so clear to me that this process is also rigged and that Trupanion would continue to insist they know more about Luna’s condition than her vets.

 Cancelling my policy was the only action I could take to put an end to the injustice. After paying 38 months of premiums and having NEVER been paid a claim, it is just as though I have been robbed of the almost $1,100 that I paid in premiums and enrollment fees.

 Buyer Beware! Trupanion’s tag line, “medical Insurance for the life of your pet” is a lie.

I like the way the plan is designed, Trupanion has always been easy to work with and get reimbursed, and I love the customer service.

My experince with the Co. has always been excepional.
