Got Trupanion's insurance this past Feb. Filed our 1st claim after our dog had an accident playing in our backyard in July. 20 minutes after I faxed the claim form/invoice from the vet hospital I received an e-mail from Trupanion saying they had received info and would begin to process. 2 hours later I got a phone call from the claims office saying they had approved claim and check would go out the next day. I received check 5 days later. All in all, a great experience and everyone was very pleasant.

Reimbursements Based on Impossibly Low Rates
ASPCA Pet Health Insurance is the third pet insurance plan we've tried over the past 20 years. Their coverage is average, their "fine print" is average, and the speed of their claims handling is average. The biggest and most heinous issue with this company is their adherence to reimbursements based on a totally out-of-touch, unreasonable and almost fraudulent set of "average local charges" as published by some pro-insurance-company (and perhaps owned by them) rates researcher.
Generally, ASPCA has reimbursed our claims at an average of 40 to 45% of what we've had to pay the veterinarians, regardless of the illness, medical procedures, or other costs. For a $350 procedure, they "allowed" $151. For a $260 procedure, they "allowed" $127. This is not including deductables. When we asked them to provide the name of a single veterinatian within 25 miles who charged what they were "allowing," they claimed to only go by this published book and could not provide names. When I asked for the name of the publisher of the book, they refused to provide it. Needless to say, the book, whatever it is and whoever publishes it, has no relationship to the real world and merely serves to accommodate their unreasonable payouts.
Think twice about any pet insurance company. In hindsight, we've realized that it would have been more cost-effective to self-insure by setting up a savings account and paying the "premiums" to that account.

Highly Recommended!
Embrace just approved my claim for my lab's TPLO procedure. Everyone I dealt with was caring, compassionate, and easily accessible. I am so pleased with Embrace. I would highly recommend Embrace to all pet owners.

Too many exclusions
I have two dogs and three cats insured by Petshealth and amlooking for new carrier. Their pre-existing condition
clause is a deal-breaker; moreover, they refuse to cover
dental disease of any type . My greyhound had severe dental disease and, only after the ASPCA liaison intervened, was I able to get reimbursed. Now, a calico
cat I rescued was diagnosed with gingivitis and this claim,
too, was denied. I guess that petshealth would rather pay
for the heart and kidney failure that dental disease causes
than correct the problem before it becomes life-threatening.

Not Impressed
Pets Best looks like a great insurance company, but how can you have a great company if your customer care is poor?
Wanting to know more about this company and it's coverage, I emailed some simple questions to customer care, but I never got a response. I was sent advertisements for enrollment (several times over), but even after I sent a new email, with the first message attached, I received nothing in response.
Why would I give my money to a company who won't even pay attention to me!

Pet insurance as advertised!
When I adopted my cat I was aware of pet insurance, but had heard from VPI customers it wasn't worth the hassle (maximum allowable benefits, co-pays, exclusions....)so when I found and signed up for Embrace it sounded like a good idea, but I was dubious. Not two months later I took my cat in for her shots and learned that she was diabetic! The initial outlay was huge. I was in the vet's office that first week four out of 7 days with weekly visits for the rest of the month! When I submitted the bills I was pleasantly surprised at how NICE their customer service rep's are. (That's something they can't really tell you on their website.) And ultimately, after checking out her medical history, they covered the expenses as advertised.

Great customer service and follow-up
I signed up with Pets Best around the first part of the year when my new dog arrived in January. Your insurance company was recommended by my vet Glenn Craft, Laguna Niguel, CA.
My intention was to avoid filing a claim at all costs unless a major medical problem occured with my dog Darby. Unfortunately, the dog managed to swallow a chunk of rubber that became lodged in her intestine and required immediate emergency surgery and generated a knock-out vet bill. I decided to file two claims with Pets Best for the event.
I have to tell you that I was totally impressed with your prompt response in reimbursing me for expenses. Pets Best did exactly what it said it would do with no questions. Everything was straight-forward with no complications.
Great customer service Pets Best!!! I wish I could say the same about most of the other businesses I deal with on a day to day basis. I referred a co-worker to your company. He liked what he saw on your website and signed up.
Thank you very much. I hope to never file a claim again but it's good to know I can count on Pets Best.

Fabulous Coverage!
When I got my puppy my vet told me the only insurance to get was Embrace. I had heard others complain about their pet insurance so I signed up immediately. I recently submitted my first claim and was extremely pleased with the response and amount I was reimbursed. I'm so glad my puppy has Embrace coverage! I recommend it to all of my friends.
