Rip-off artists!
Just imagine that your own Blue Cross or other health insurance would pay for a condition until the annual renewal date of your policy, and then claim that your illness was a "pre-existing condition" (they claim that each year is a completely new policy!), and refuse to pay further. That is exactly what Hartville/ASPCA does with your pet insurance. In addition, they only pay 80% of the fee allowed in their own "fee schedule," which you bet your life is lower than what your vet charges you. Who would even think to ask these specific questions when enrolling? This company's advertising is misleading. They are unethical cheats. I gave the a rating of "1" only because there is no Zero option.

My first claim
I submitted two claims for my puppy Casanova. Embrace was prompt to respond to my emails and also return my phone calls. Their explanation of benefits was spot on and the coverage amount was EXACTLY what I had calculated.
The process took about 15 business days from the day I submitted my claim form and invoice. Since it was my first claim, they took their time to review all information. During the entire process, they kept me informed of what was going on. Even though there was a confusion with one of my claims, they redid the whole thing after I explained to them.
This is the first insurance company I've used and I am extremely satisfied with them. I hope they maintain the high standards in the time to come.
Cheers!

Quick Claims Processing and Great Communication
I bought a policy that included pet wellness for our two new cats. All of the claims were paid within 15 days of faxing them in. Now that the series of shots are done, I emailed and asked that our policy be reduced to just accident and illness. Communication has been easy and all promised costs have been paid. I am extremely happy with Pets Best.

Best insurance company I have ever dealt with
We lost our two beloved dogs about two years ago, it took about a year to decide to get another dog. When we got Bonnie we decided that it was very important to get pet insurance. The illnesses of our two dogs had cost several thousand dollars, so we wanted to be better prepared this time. We looked at several policies and none seemed as good as Embrace. Embrace has handled every claim promptly and professionally. Every staff member I have dealt has been extremely nice, courteous and helpful. All in all the best insurance company. My own health insurance company could take a lot of lessons from Embrace.

No chronic condition renewal
This pet insurance does not cover chronic conditions that manifested in the previous year into the new policy year. They treat it as PRE EXISTING!! I had a 11 year old samoyed who developed kidney disease and when the policy renewed they no longer covered any of her bloodwork, medications, etc. and I was basically on my own as far as vet expenses were concerned. If you are not worried about that take the policy BUT you will regret it.

Great in all aspects!
I was a former subscriber to VPI and was concerned about changing even though I was displeased with VPI. I couldn't be happier with my change. The customer service is great and responsive and reimbursement has been easy and prompt. I have been impressed with their email notification. Prior with VPI I would have to have letters written from vets to have things covered and then would have to resubmit which was an effort to wear me down. This company works with the pet owner not against you. I would reccomend them without hesitation.

Very happy I switched to Pets Best!
My greyhound broke her toe last year so badly it had to be amputated and the vet bills ended up being about $1600. I was with VPI at the time and had been for several years and was really shocked at how little they covered for the amputation. They have a schedule of "allowable" fees which is why I switched to Pets Best, which is based on a simple 20/80 plan with a $75 one time deductible per incident.I'm so glad I did, because this year in February my girl ended up with a what was finally diagnosed as a calcified tendon in her shoulder which had to be surgically repaired....needless to say not a cheap venture. All I can say is that Pets Best was absolutely GREAT about answering all my many questions about this rather complicated claim, because it looked like it was possibly an issue with the three-toed foot in the beginning. There were extensive x-rays at my regular vet and then a specialist who did the surgery. From beginning to end my claims were processed and paid within three weeks, no more than four and that's because medical records were requested. Out of $3000 I only had to pay about $500 which sure made it a lot easier for me to do whatever it took to get my very active sweet girl back to running and playing pain free.
The staff at Pets Best was always very compassionate, helpful and patient and reaching someone was never a problem.
The premiums are a bit higher, but considering the benefits, especially with today's costs of good veterinary care, it's well worth it.
THANK YOU to everyone at Pets Best for taking such good care of me and my best buddy Bailey.

very deceptive policy renewal discription
I have been with ASPCA for over a year, I have three pets on the plan.My cat had developed hyperthiroidism in Nov. of 2007 and was put on medication which is not hepling,he had to be on it for three months to regulate the thiroid before surgery could be done. The policy renewed in Feb. when I read my new ploicy on the certificate it had a clause that read any illness that manifests in one 12 month period and is not cured and treatnent free for 180 days will be excluded from coverage in the subsequent 12 month period.but there was a asterik at the end of that statement (*) at the bottom of the plan it says does not apply to our plan.I called to verify this and was put on hold for 10 minutes and told to turn to page 9 under section Limit Of liability which basically said the same thing that was on the front page.I was told that they did not know why the asterik had that clause and that there were two supervisers looking into IT ,but that I am still not covered,I am thinking of contacting a lawer in this matter,I sent several E-mails and they never reply.I asked if my pet had an accident 12/31 and had to go back for several appointments and my policy renewed Jan.1 if that would be covered and was told no.What kind of rip off company are they.I chose them because they are the aspca, and thought that they would be more reputable because of there name .Boy was I wrong.I am going to look for another company.
