Slow, fight to get claims paid
I will start with the fact that they do pay claims. You have to push and fight. Basic care move much more quickly. I had a very serious claim and it took 4 months and a letter to the BBB in order for them to get their story straight. The hospitalization was refused 3 times for different reasons each time. The claim review process needs to be addressed. My vet was so frustraited dealing with this company that he asked me to change companies. I am actually so frustrated with Pets Best I am willing to pay for an expensive pre-existing condition in order to change companies. This could have been prevented with a more proactive claims review process and better communication. The customer service reps are very nice and as helpful as they can be, but they are at the mersy of the claims department. I feel for them and tried not to take my frustration out on them. It is really sad how customer service has gone by the wayside these days. It would take a call from the COO and upper management to get me to renew my policy, but even then I want to keep my vet happy. My vet has let a $700 balance ride waiting on this money. I don't know any other vet that would do such a thing.

Be Aware Of The Pre-Existing Condition Clause
I had insurance on 2 cats with this company for about 10 years. Overall I would say they are fair. The biggest drawback is the "pre-existing condition" clause. I have never looked into any other company policy and, therefore, am not aware if this is common practice. It seems to be a major source of complaint by many and can prove to be devastating upon an animals illness. After my cat died, I filed the claims for medical reimbursement and was at first denied because they considered his condition "pre-existing". I spoke to several women in the office regarding the matter and they were so very nice. After I explained the complete story of my cats illness, one suggested that I put those facts in writing and file a formal appeal. After 2 letters from me and one from my Vet, the company became aware that there was no "pre-existing condition" and paid fairly on the claims. My advice is keep good records so you can deal with facts if necessary.

Embrace is Great!
I spent a LONG time deciding which pet insurance company to choose for my bernese mtn dog. I read about Embrace and couldn't refuse. Unfortunately, my dog did end up needing a TTA knee surgery a year after I bought the insurance. Needless to say Embrace was GREAT! They completely lived up to expectations. Embrace made the claims and precertification process very easy. They also were very kind, always asking how my dog was doing. I highly recommend Embrace.

Only Good In The Beginning
This insurance was great at paying the annoying piddling expenses the first 8 years of my pets life. Insurance is definately NOT something that I want to get my money's worth. But, when a deabilatating accident (ACL tear) happened to my pet I was comfortable in the fact that I would be covered. after 8+ years of paying premiums. This is why we buy insurance right? Well, they gave every excuse in the book not to honor my claim. After filing a lawsuit with small claims court, they settled the day before they were to appear but with no admission of guilt on their part for continually rejecting the claim.

Best experience in the worse time
We have had Embrace for about a month. A couple weeks ago I woke up to find our dog unable to stand up. It was a very horrifying experience. Two weeks later our had has had to have a bilateral FHO. So far everyone has been amazing. They have kept me calm and collected. If it werent for Embrace this experience would have ranked with the worse in my life.

Pay for nothing and are snotty while doing it
I was with ASCPA for only a short time (less than one year) but during that time they did not pay one claim on my Lab, and when I contacted them, the support people were very discourteous and haughty. I cancelled them, and I would suggest no one insure with them

Changed my view on pet insurance
I used to have a pet insurance, which was nothing but disapoointment. It took 8 years for me to try a pet insurance a chnace. I researched for hours so that I would not throw my money away. What sold me was the fact that I got answers to my questions after hours right away. I used the insurance in October but I did not expect much as all insurance companies are so good at coming up with an excuse not to pay.
I was positively surprised when I got an e-mail. They actually paid!!! Even before this experience, I had recommended Embrase to friends because of the good custimer service. But now I have the proof that goes with my recommendation!

has already paid for itself several times
I have been with this company, PetsHealth for a number of years now, and I have 2 cats..the deductibles are low, and in the first year that I had purchased it, it had already saved me a great deal of money, as one of my cats became seriously ill, and I was unsure how I would pay for the care he needed, as he had to be hospitalized....the bill was well over $500, and Petshealth, because of the coverage plan I chose, paid more than half of that! It helped me so much financially, and the best part, was the peace of mind it gave me. Now, when one of my cats needs to go to the vet I don't worry as much, because I know Petshealth is there, and I can count on them--not only that, but they are so helpful and caring when you need to talk to them by phone.......I would recommend this company to anyone who has pets....

claim review too long and unfair
I continue to be disspointed with the service. They reject claims as pre-existing without further info/documentation. When I wrote and asked that they support their claim they simply never responded. I hear that the AKC offers a good program and I will look into it.
