Embrace is tops! Caring, competent company.
I bought a policy for my dog in April of 2008. She had a freak and tragic accident in June of 2008 and spent a day and a half in a coma on a ventilator in ICU before she passed away. It was an awful time and a huge expense. Embrace was caring, competent and efficient throughout. They handled much of the document gathering for me since it was a very traumatic time and paid their 90% of the claim quickly. I added two more puppies to my household in recent months, and buying an Embrace policy for each one was on the top of my list of things to take care of with each. The Embrace CEO personally contacted me to congratulate our family on our new additions and were excited for us. They had passed the photos I emailed to them all around their office. I recommend them highly!

A very happy policy holder
I have two cats and originally had them both enrolled with another pet insurance company. I received a brochure about three years ago for ASPCA insurance and when I compared policies, the ASPCA policy provided better coverage for less out of pocket expense and so I decided to switch policies. In November of 2008, my male cat was diagnosed with Diabetes and I had to use the pet insurance for the first time. The customer servive has been excellent and what impressed me most was the ease of the paperwork and the timely reimbursement payments. I would recommend the ASPCA pet healh care provider to anyone with pets.

Embrace? not so much
I have a 14 months old German shepherd and I signed up with Embrace because the company claims to cover genetic or breed-specific conditions. German shepherds are prone to hip or elbow dysplasia. I signed with Embrace when my dog reached the age of 11 months. I wanted to be out of the waiting period by the time my dog gets his x-ray evaluation (I am a competitive trainer and my breed organization's minimum age for hip and elbow a-stamp evaluation is 12 months of age). I had my dog's x-rays taken a few days after he turned 12 months. His hips turned out great, but both of his elbows were dysplastic. Because my dog is still very young, his vet recommended surgery as soon as possible to prevent any ongoing damage. I asked Embrace to pre-approve my claim and to my surprise received a denial. When my dog was diagnosed with ED, I told the veterinarian that I never noticed any symptoms other than a slight limp on my dog's forelegs when he was about 5 months old. The limp however disappeared after about a week and some Glucosamine supplements (my dogs weight almost doubled since then and he now weights more than 100 lbs.) Embrace found this statement in the vet's notes and claimed that my dogs elbow dysplasia was a pre-existing condition because it showed clinical signs prior to insurance coverage. I responded to Embrace that all of my previous German shepherds limped at some point as puppies (I had 5 so far) but none of them was ever diagnosed with ED. That did not matter. To say that I am disappointed with Embrace is an understatement. I find it outrageous that Embrace advertises its coverage of genetic or breed-specific conditions but then argues that those were pre-existing when it comes to a claim. Of course they are pre-existing that's why we call them genetic disease. I am terminating my policy with Embrace today because I lost complete faith in their business practices. Buyer beware, if your dog has ever limped at some point prior to getting insurance with Embrace, any claims related to your dog's musculoskeletal system could be simply denied for that reason.

Simple, no hassle claims payment
When I looked at health insurance for our new dog, I found that most had schedules of amounts that they would pay for any given condition. Having no way to know what the bills would be likely to be for any condition, I looked for a better alternative. Pets Best offered a very simple benefits schedule: For most conditions, they pay 80% of the amount, after the deductible.
Recently, our dog got pancreatitis. It was a real relief not to have to worry about the size of the bill when she suddenly got sick. And in fact, Pets Best gave us a determination on our claim online, and we had the actual check within a couple of weeks. Aside from a small charge for fecal testing (one of their exclusions), they covered 80% of everything after the deductible. This experience made me confident that the insurance really will be there when needed.

Out of the Blue
Since I got my first cat from a shelter she has had insurance, I wouldn't have thought to get it on my own but since a month insurance was provided by the shelter and by the time the month was up I had been to the vet over 4 times for a multitude of health issues she came home with. The people at Pet Secure I talked with during that time were so kind and seemed to care about my cats care as much as I did so I've continued care with them and never thought of canceling. Last year my cat broke her leg in my home during the night and over a month she racked up nearly $5000 in vet bills. Pet Secure handled all my freaked out phone calls, calmed my nerves and payed out the top amount on my cats plan to help me give her the best care. And nearly 4 months later she is doing great. I'm very thankful for the service and care I have received and now have two indoor cats insured with Pet Secure.

Beauty's experience
We have a nine year old Sheltie who is the light of our lives. Right before Christmas, she fell and dislocated her shoulder. She was in a great deal of pain and was acting very strangely. We took her to our vet who did x-rays, blood work, etc. and put her on some meds for the pain. She had a very difficult time and we had to take her 3 or 4 times to the vet. We love her dearly and teased that we would mortgage the house to get her better if we had to. We had over 600 dollars in expenses for her including blood work, meds and x-rays. ASPCA paid 80 percent of everything. What a blessing, especially at Christmas time!!!Beauty is coming along very well now and we are so grateful to ASPCA for the financial help. It would have been very difficult without them. I allready have one friend who has signed up for coverage for her pets.

ASPCA Insurance, What a Ripoff!
Recently my cat had eye surgery which cost me close to $1,000. I was appalled to receive a reimbursement check for onlyl $436.00. That means I didn't even get reimbursed half of what I had paid!! Then when I called them up they told me that they determined my reimbursement from the geographical location I live in and the most reasonable veterinary costs. This method does not work if one lives in New York City where everything, especially veterinary care is extremely expensive. Then they lied to me and said they only reimburse up to 80 percent with deductible, but am not guaranteed this percentage of reimbursement. I remember reading on their website that 80 percent of reimbursement is what they give. Furthermore, it took well over 30 days to receive this cheap check. I am in the process of shopping around for a different pet insurance, and so far I will say that Pets Best Insurance customer representatives were the most helpful in comparison to others I had phoned recently. Don't buy ASPCA Pet Insurance. Even though the cost is cheaper than other pet insurance, the reimbursement is the worst!! ASPCA Insurance will only reimburse 40 percent or less of the bill. I would not recommend the ASPCA Pet Insurance. It stinks on ice!

Haven't had any problems yet!
I had VIP with our other dogs and didnt like them. So when we got the new pups thought I would give the AKC plan a try.We had one disagreement and they wouldn't cover her upset stomach from eating rocks. They said the illness was with in the 30 day waiting period. I resemitted and told them it wasn't a illness it was a accident she ate rocks. At that point they reconsidered and payed the claim.
So far they have been really good paying claims.
We got the "wellness plan" that covers preventive meds and teeth cleaning which most plans don't cover.
I should have signed up sooner and got the Wellness plus plan and they would have paid the spay and neuter procedures.

fantastic service
I would recommend Embrace to anyone! Their representatives (easier to reach via email than phone) are fast and VERY helpful. They let me know exactly what they needed from me, and even followed up with my vet themselves to get the paperwork necessary to process my claim. They were friendly and I just can't say enough about how pleasant the experience was. They cover what they say they cover and my claim was handled quickly. I will definitely be staying with them!

Yogi
I have had insurance for Yogi since I brought him home in March 2003 and have been satisfied with the customer service and the way claims are handled. I lost a "puppy" a little over a year ago and the rep at Hartville was very sympathetic and genuine in handling his claim. I always suggest anyone with a pet to get insurance...you have it for yourself, why not for your pet? Afterall, they are a key part of the family so they deserve to be protected!!
