Beauty's experience
We have a nine year old Sheltie who is the light of our lives. Right before Christmas, she fell and dislocated her shoulder. She was in a great deal of pain and was acting very strangely. We took her to our vet who did x-rays, blood work, etc. and put her on some meds for the pain. She had a very difficult time and we had to take her 3 or 4 times to the vet. We love her dearly and teased that we would mortgage the house to get her better if we had to. We had over 600 dollars in expenses for her including blood work, meds and x-rays. ASPCA paid 80 percent of everything. What a blessing, especially at Christmas time!!!Beauty is coming along very well now and we are so grateful to ASPCA for the financial help. It would have been very difficult without them. I allready have one friend who has signed up for coverage for her pets.

ASPCA Insurance, What a Ripoff!
Recently my cat had eye surgery which cost me close to $1,000. I was appalled to receive a reimbursement check for onlyl $436.00. That means I didn't even get reimbursed half of what I had paid!! Then when I called them up they told me that they determined my reimbursement from the geographical location I live in and the most reasonable veterinary costs. This method does not work if one lives in New York City where everything, especially veterinary care is extremely expensive. Then they lied to me and said they only reimburse up to 80 percent with deductible, but am not guaranteed this percentage of reimbursement. I remember reading on their website that 80 percent of reimbursement is what they give. Furthermore, it took well over 30 days to receive this cheap check. I am in the process of shopping around for a different pet insurance, and so far I will say that Pets Best Insurance customer representatives were the most helpful in comparison to others I had phoned recently. Don't buy ASPCA Pet Insurance. Even though the cost is cheaper than other pet insurance, the reimbursement is the worst!! ASPCA Insurance will only reimburse 40 percent or less of the bill. I would not recommend the ASPCA Pet Insurance. It stinks on ice!

Haven't had any problems yet!
I had VIP with our other dogs and didnt like them. So when we got the new pups thought I would give the AKC plan a try.We had one disagreement and they wouldn't cover her upset stomach from eating rocks. They said the illness was with in the 30 day waiting period. I resemitted and told them it wasn't a illness it was a accident she ate rocks. At that point they reconsidered and payed the claim.
So far they have been really good paying claims.
We got the "wellness plan" that covers preventive meds and teeth cleaning which most plans don't cover.
I should have signed up sooner and got the Wellness plus plan and they would have paid the spay and neuter procedures.

fantastic service
I would recommend Embrace to anyone! Their representatives (easier to reach via email than phone) are fast and VERY helpful. They let me know exactly what they needed from me, and even followed up with my vet themselves to get the paperwork necessary to process my claim. They were friendly and I just can't say enough about how pleasant the experience was. They cover what they say they cover and my claim was handled quickly. I will definitely be staying with them!

Yogi
I have had insurance for Yogi since I brought him home in March 2003 and have been satisfied with the customer service and the way claims are handled. I lost a "puppy" a little over a year ago and the rep at Hartville was very sympathetic and genuine in handling his claim. I always suggest anyone with a pet to get insurance...you have it for yourself, why not for your pet? Afterall, they are a key part of the family so they deserve to be protected!!

Best Pet Insurance I've Dealth With
Sadly, I'm quite experienced with pet insurance. My dog has had PetCare for years, only to discover when she was diagnosed with breast cancer that upon renewal, her policy would consider this a pre-existing condition despite the fact that there was no lapse of coverage. My first cat had VPI which is so horrendously poor at covering actual expenses (versus a ridiculously low "covered amount") that it was more expensive for us to have him insured and pay his bills, rather than simply pay his bills. And then for our second cat, we did some research and got Embrace. It has been an eye-opening experience into what insurance could be. Our claims are immediately acknowledged by email and even when claims are denied (which happened to us for dental: these need to be pre-approved), we get the nicest emails. We are now switching all of our animals to Embrace at the expiration of their current policies.

You get nothing out of this
I purchased two health plans - one for my 12 year old cat and another for a 6 week old kitten. For the kitten, after submitting about $300 in claims for vaccinations and checkups, I got about $30 back from this plan (The Advantage Plan). For the 12 year old, I took him in because he was limping and for a general checkup. The vet took some x-rays of his leg and determined he had a tumor (cancerous). Other tests and procedures were done, and overall I submitted about $600 in claims for him on the Sterling plan. To date, not a dime has been paid for various excuses and bogus reasons.
Processing of claims is very slow and there are many exclusions, so beware. The only bright point is that customer service is quick to respond. Overall, ASPCA is not worth it...look elsewhere. So far, I have lost more money than I have put into this, and this was for services that were supposedly "covered".

Great company, never had problems
My cat was scratching her stomach raw and my friend's sister was a dermatologist vet who recommended I get pet insurance, Pets Best in particular, before I see her, since they had good coverage for specialists. I ended up participating in a vet dermatologist trial that did not require insurance but subsequently my cat got very sick with triaditis (inflamatory bowel, pancrease and liver) and within the span of six months I spent about $5,000 out of my own pocket on care for her. Pets Best covered the specified 80% (minus food and extra nights that I boarded her) and I got close to about $4,000 back. They dealt directly with the vet for any questions (requesting records) and informed me they were doing so and each claim receipt and status was clearly communicated to me. They've worked great for me and I'd recommend them to others.

Pre-existing Conditions
My dog was diagnosed with mast cell cancer. The ASPCA was good about paying half the cost of her treatment for the first year I had them, but after that they considered the cancer a pre-existing condition and paid nothing more. They explained that their insurance is renewed annually, so anything my dog had the previous insurance year was pre-existing the second insurance year. This was really outrageous to me but there was nothing I knew to do. They were very nice when they rejected my claims. I don't know if I would recommend this company to other pet owners - I think I would as long as they understood and were willing to accept this issue. Perhaps ASPCA has a cancer rider?

Terrible Turnaround Time
I submitted my first claim to Embrace on 12/8/08 and it has not yet been processed. Looks like the typical delay tactic of insurance companies. I am switching to VPI.
