not worth it
Until I cancelled, I had repeated problems with declines for pre-existing conditions that did not exist. Ex. a decline for my dog's x-ray for a pre-existing shoulder injury - he did not have a shoulder injury. Another one - decline for vaginal infection as a pre-existing condition when her pre-existing condition was a bladder infection. Vet had to send corroborating info on every single claim, including clarifying the difference between a vagina and a urethra!! Compared to what I paid for 5 animals, they paid virtually nothing.

Best thing I ever did.

Wouldn't go without it!
My min-pin was bit by something as a puppy and at that time we didn't have insurance. I was out $2400 but it saved his life. At that time, my wife and I decided to purchase pet insurance and ASPCA was recommended by our vet. 2 years later, my same min-pin was bitten by a coyote and almost died. The vets saved his life again, but this time we had pet insurance. The vet bill was $1700, but we only paid $400. Thank you ASPCA, we wouldn't go without pet insurance again.

Disappointed and frustrated
My experience was not unlike the stories one hears about people trying to get insurance companies to pay out on human health insurance claims. I ended up wasting time with appeals and feeling utterly cheated and frustrated. The argument they made was that, because two illnesses share certain symptoms, the 2nd illness was simply a "pre-existing" condition from the day the first one manifested itself. While this is difficult to prove or disprove, it disappointed me that they were unreceptive to my vet's professional opinion that they were separate diagnoses. All in all, I felt that I simply handed the insurance company money and got nothing but aggravation when I needed them. I didn't get a dime back from them for either of the illnesses. Profits over pets, I assume.

A life Saving investment
I have had pets health life and Accident Insurance on my beagles and cavalier King charles spaniels for the past ten years ,I would never go without it ,I have had several happenings over the year, as I have 6 dogs ,My one beagle was diagnosed with the walls of her gall bladder bursting ,this was not a cheap surgery but with my insurance I recieved back 1500.00 of the 3,000.00 the specialist had charged me .
Another occurence was my other beagle who was feeling sick ,so he had no grass to eat as that is what dogs seem to want to do when they feel nauseated , to throw up ,so he chewed on the towel in his crate and ate several pieces ,well the next day I was at the emergency room with him for a blockage of his intestines ,again I saved at least half of the cost with the pets health insurance ,I pay about 89.00 a month for 5 dogs which is cents compared to what I would have to pay, god forbid something happens to my little companions .
They are my life, my best friends, and my family and I do for them what I would do for my human family ,as they bring me so much love and ask nothing in return except to be fed and loved ,I would have it no other way thankyou pets health for being there for my furbabies

Good for older pets
I signed up my two older Golden Retrievers with Pets Health almost four years ago becuase I trusted the ASPCA to affiliate with a reliable insurer. While there have been a few problems with my claims, I could always find a supervisor willing to help and everything was resolved happily. I am thankful that I can afford to provide excellent medical care for my old Golden girls with the help of Pets Health.

Quick, Pleasant, and Accessible
We recently sent in a claim to Embrace and received our payment quickly. The staff communicated with us during the process and followed-up with us afterwards to ensure our satisfaction. I was able to predict almost exactly how much our payment would be simply based on what I understood our coverage to be. The detailed explanation was also very clear and easy to understand.

satisfied customer
I have many pets and have had Petshealth for more than 10 years. I have had 3 dogs with cancer. The Petshealth insurance has been extremely helpful especially when I have had a serious illness to deal with. While every person with insurance wants more money back on their claims I have found this group to be fair. I have been satisfied with their service for more than a decade now.

Hartville is the Bernie Madoff of Pet Insurance!
Hartville Group is the Bernie Madoff of Pet Insurers! I have had this pet insurance since my 2 puppies were 4 months old. Never placed a claim with them for the first 10 years of my dogs lives. Unfortunately one of my little ones (maltese) got sick this past July, 2009 and just passed away Dec 2, 2009 @ the age of 11 1/2. Their insurance policy ran from August to July so it was renewed August, 2009 and now they refuse to pay the refund because of the "pre-existing condition in a prior insurance period." I made sure those dogs health insurance was paid while I was unemployed and for what?! Being treated like this! I don't think so. I'm considering legal action and would like to hear from anyone else interested in joining me. I'm also going to FACEBOOK, TWITTER and post anywhere and everywhere I can so this information goes viral on how corrupt this company is! I'm also going to inform the VCA and every other veterinary medical school and pca about this company. They were happy to take my $11K over the past 11 years for these dogs yet don't pay anything back in return? I think not! Please post if you wish to join me in letting every pet owner in the United States and world wide NOT to insure with HARTVILLE Group! (The Bernie Madoff of Pet Insurers!)

Excellent
I will admit I had reservations-you read so many negative reports about pet insurances. But, since I now have 3 rescued shelties and 2 rescued mixed breed dogs, I felt I might need some help with medical bills so I would take the chance with Embrace. So far, I have not been disappointed.
I have found Embrace to be straight forward and to do all they say they will do. Only one of my shelties has needed much in the way of medical help so far but his bills have been pretty high-to me at least-and Embrace has reimbursed me all expenses minus my copay(20%) and deductible.($500-wish I had lowered this amount when I took out the policy) No hide and seek when it comes to what is/isn't covered. They give you an itemized list of everything. Another good thing is, my claims have been settled quickly.
A bit of advice...When purchasing the insurance, it is to your advantage to get the max coverage amount-10K-since any "on going" or "continued care" issues will only be covered up to 25% of whatever your elected max is. ($2500 if you chose 10K) Since my dog has an on going issue that was discovered in the previous policy year, I am glad to know $2500 of the expenses will be covered after my deductible and copay. No, it is not 100% of my money back, but it sure helps! Also, if you can, choose the lower deductible from the beginning. You do pay a bit more, but in the long run, it will be worth it.
As I said, I don't know what the future holds, but at this point, I would highly recommend Embrace!!
