Don't act out of good faith, they DON'T
The only way to come out ahead with Embrace is to have a compete understanding of the policy play their game. We had our 8 week old puppy cleared on the ortho exam during the 2 week initial waiting period so we thought we had a healthy perfect puppy and that we were covered. 2 week before the 6 month waiting period for ortho injuries was completed my puppy hurt her knee. We should have waited to get her looked at. They denied the claim saying the ortho exam was done during the waiting period and because of that we had to wait 6 months. We acted in good faith, they did not. If she needs surgery down the road, it won't be covered. Good luck if you pet gets hurt or sick. I am sure they will figure out how not to cover it.

Fist time pet insurance owner
I've always had several pets and it seems that I always end up spending a fortune on them at some point. We spent $2500 on knee surgery for my poodle....$3000 for multiple eye surgeries and emergency vet visits for our Shar-pei. I kept saying that one of these days I'm going to buy pet insurance. After Maggie and Sugar passed away we eventually were ready for a new dog. We purchased a French Mastiff puppy and as most people know, the bigger the dog, the bigger the bills. I found Embrace on line and got Bailey set up with a policy and have made a claim on her shots and wellness exam. I was reimbursed within a week or so and was very happy with the experience. I just faxed in the claim form and invoices and had an email the next day saying it was being reviewed and then a follow up email saying a check would be coming in the mail. I feel this is going to be money well spent. I chose Embrace because they not only cover the normal expenses (shots, emergencies, etc. ) they cover hereditary diseases like hip displasia. If you do your research, you'll find in the small print that most other pet insurance carriers don't offer that. I think this is going to be a long and happy relationship with Embrace and I've already recommended them to several people who have pets. Thanks Embrace!!

Careful
As I thought this company cared about pets, one has to remember that it is still a business. I insured my less than a year old puppy and added hip dysplasia insurance.
Upon bringing her to the vet for a regular checkup, my vet said that she was standing "odd". I did not think anythin of it, but my vet wanted to do an x-ray. I let him, only for him to come back letting me know she has hip dysplasia. I was shocked and did not even see this coming!
I collected all the relevant forms and followed all the instructions from the Trupanion website. I faxed everything in, just claiming the x-ray and meds. Trupanion emailed me that day notifying that they refuse to pay. There reasoning: the condition was found within the first 30 days of my insurance -- I only had two more weeks to go.
I called to see if any further coverage would be available after the 30 days and was told "no". I even explained that I did not even know and that it was not even my choice to get the x-ray done then! Trupanion still refused.
I realize that it is in their policy but there has to be an exception in some cases. I could even have the vet write a letter explaining that it was his idea and not mine, but that would still do no good.
Since Trupanion has done absolutely nothing for me, I asked for a refund for my coverage (2 months) and was refused on that as well. They just offered a $5 refund on the hip dysplasia.
To everyone out there, be wary on your policy start date and allow your pet to suffer until the 30 days is up. This is was Trupanion forces you to do.

Great Follow through
I am very busy, and the fact that Embrace employees follow through on all the paperwork and email confirming everything, and then follow up at the end of the process, really makes my life easier. My first puppy, and of course I love him, but having him healthy is very important, and I am happy that I paid to have insurance!

Wouldnt go without it
I have insured my shep/samoyed x since she was 12 weeks as 1 year prior my mother in law had to euthanize her 11 month beautiful shep due to severe hip displasia, they could not afford the 12000 surgery. It has been a blessing to me, Hailey is now 12yrs old and has had numerous issues over the past 5 years. Both knees and 3 boughts with hepatitis - still working on the third. Not withstanding testing for spinal issues, mri to test for degenerative mylopothy (negative)on and on it goes right now. But, we are able to do everything we can to find out the proper way to treat her. I tell everyone i now or meet at the vet hospital that i wouldnt go without it. Takes the decision making out of the picture. Securican has alway supported our treatment choices and have never questions our decisions. I have never used any other company so as far as a rating go i have not comparison. I dont now if my rates are higher than others but i have no compaints about service.

Excellent Service
We recently brought a new dog into our family. Neither my wife nor I hae ever owned a dog before. We heard from a variety of people that we needed to get health insurance for our new addition. After doigng some research, we decided to go with Embrace because of their good reviews and reputation. Well, now that I experiecned their helpfulness and efficiency first-hand, I am grateful we made the choice to purchase an Embrace policy. We recently submitted a wellness claim for reimbursement and it was refreshing to realize how easy submission was and how quick we received our reimbursement. Keep up the good work Embrace!

Customer Service is Excellent!
One day after his first birthday, our Siberian Husky had health issues. All I can say is ... "thank goodness for Trupanion". My experience with this company has been a very positive one. Claims are processed quickly. Customer service is excellent! I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Trupanion.

Can never talk to anyone; takes forever to pay.
Gus had three different claims. ASPCA was next to impossible to get someone to talk to, putting me on hold for more than ten minutes twice this last time(then I gave up and hung up). It could take over four weeks to get reimbursement, even if all information was faxed immediately. Once I was told they didn't receive the faxed material, as their fax number had changed(of course they didn't let policy holders know of the change). I was told they would 'expedite' the claim. Even then, weeks went by. I am currently starting my fourth week of waiting after faxing claims to them and e-mailing them to tell them what a lousy company they are and specifics about the last, and final, claim. I finally got a call from them, and was told they would 'expedite' the claim(sound familiar?). Gus deserved better in his short life. He didn't deserve ASPCA.
