Bad Faith

My experience with Embrace has been 50/50, positive and negative. I obtained Embrace immediately after I adopted my dog, and chose the company due to good reviews. However, upon our first emergancy visit to the vet, we were denied coverage. I had been to a vet for my dog's initial check up, of whom cleared him for his orthopedic waiver, and prescribed an antihistamine for his sneezing/gagging. That same evening, it got worse, and sounded like a honking soun. I took him to the 24-hour emergancy vet, and he was diagnosed with kennel cough. Well, interestingly enough, in the doctor's notes (at both vets) when they asked me when the symptoms began, I honestly replied "a couple of days ago". Well, when I filed my claim with Embrace for both vet visits, they were denied. Reason being that the symptoms had begun before my 14-day grace period was up. Nevermind that my 14 day grace period had expired before I took to him to either of the vet facilities. To make matters worse, the vet at the 24-hour hospital wrote in a comment about a luxating patella, which forfieted my orthopedic waiver. When I challenged Embrace on this, they were horrible. They told me in order to get the orthopedic waiver corrected I needed to go to an orthopedic specialist to have him evaluated (another cost). In terms of the kennel cough, the Embrace representative sent me a link to a website highlighting kennel cough and how to avoid it! As if this is what they base thier claim decisions on! I find Embrace to be a business operating in bad faith. Even though I recently submitted a claim that was accepted, I believe it is only time before they deny something else based on some small detail. Now, of course I am stuck with them, as if I were to leave and find another company I suspect we would be told that there are pre-existing conditions that won't be covered.

Got denied claim overturned on appeal!

I submitted my first claim on my dog in October '09 for surgery to remove two masses that turned out to be non-malignant lipomas. She had never had surgery before. Never had any masses. When I was notified that my claim was being denied because "masses" was a pre-existing condition I was floored - and furious. I had no idea what they were talking about. Then I found out a fragment of a remark made by my vet in my dog's record 8 months earlier (that was partially covered by a photocopy of a prescription), was taken out of context and the claim was denied based on that. My vet was as angry as I was! She wrote a letter to Embrace to appeal the denial. To their credit, I must say, they were very fair in reopening my dog's case and I received an email today from the Head Underwriter of Lloyds of London telling me that she agreed with my vet and I that the claim was wrongly denied. They paid the claim. I am going to keep my insurance with Embrace only because of this. They have proven they will do the right thing, but you - the policy holder - have to stand up for yourself (and your pet!) and fight for it!

Overall Claim Service is EXCELLENT!!

We have 2 cockers and have had the experience of both of them going to the vets and having multiple procedures done. Calling for claim forms and how to get them filled out correctly was greatly appreciated. The claims department was fast and handled the claims with very quick service. We are very happy with Embrace and will continue on with them!!

Superior Service and Claims

I have utilized Embrace for over 5 years and they have provided quick response to claims received, easy to contact on the phone with knowledgeable staff, and reimbursements are received in a timely manner. I have had pet insurance with VPI and was paid out pennies for claims submitted and terrible customer service. A few years ago my dog was hit by a car and based on my type of insurance Embrace saved me thousands of dollars. My dog has continued to have problems with her leg and being able to have acupuncture and other alternative treatments paid for have improved her pain level. Without this insurance I would not have been able to afford this level of care. I wish the offered personal health care! It's better than what I pay for.

Excellent service and fast claims review

Embrace has been a great company to work with! We have submitted three claims for our 12 year old greyhound. Each claim was processed and reimbursed VERY quickly. The explination of benifits (EOB) was VERY easy to read and understand. It was easier to read than my human health plan explination of benifits (EOB). This is a great pet plan!!!

Best Insurance for your pet

My Brittany Diesel is my whole world. I got Diesel at 7 weeks old and he came with a free Petsecure voucher. I ended up with my first emergency vet bill of over $700 within just a few weeks of brining Diesel home. Diesel is now 7 years old and I have spent over $27,000.00 on him, thankfully I have Petsecure, who reimbursed me more than half that amount. The reimbursements are done quickly and the staff is so friendly and helpful whenever I have had to call. Petsecure offers the most amazing coverage I have ever seen, some companies only cover accidental claims, but Petsecure covers so much more. Not only do they cover accidental and illnesses, they also cover annual exams, Spay or Neuter, Microchiping, Dew claw removal, Alternative therapies like chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathic treatments, and even behaviour therapy, and that’s not all. I feel so bad when I hear about animals that have to be put down or surrendered because their vet bills costs are too high. I think all pet owners should have some kind of pet insurance for their animals, after all, they are a part of our family. Thank you Petsecure for always being there for me and Diesel.

Fantastic!!!!

We recently purchased insurance for our new puppy with Embrace. Unfortunately, our puppy recently injured himself and needed medical care. Embrace was Fantastic! It was easy to file a claim and it was processed immediately! They responded back to our questions regarding the claim on the same day. We couldn't be more pleased or confident with insuring our puppy with Embrace. They have a customer for life!!! Thank you Embrace!

Great Service & Good Plan

We've had the Petshealth Care Plan for two year. After losing our young cat, Harry, in 2007 and spending thousands of dollars to see if we could save him, we decided to buy health insurance should we ever adopt again. Well we did adopt again, this time two sibling Persians, Suzy and Charlie. Suzy has never been a problem, but we thought we'd lose Charlie about six months after we adopted him. He was so sick all the time, we were never out of our Vet’s office. It wasn’t until Charlie was hospitalized for several days from internal bleeding did we find out after numerous expensive tests that Charlie is allergic to most everything. Since we put him on a special diet he is thriving and chases his sister all over the house. It cost us several thousand dollars to help Charlie, but having the health insurance this time certainly helped. I would highly recommend pet owners to purchase health insurance for their pets; it's worth it and gives you some piece of mind. Petshealth Care Plan worked out to be the best plan for us. The people there are very responsive, friendly and compassionate both on the phone and via email. We've been very pleased.

Excellent !!

I went and purchased this insurance bassed on the reviews i read. So far I have not been disappointed. Their staff is extremely courteous on the phone and as far as responding to e-mails they are very prompt. I just had my pet neutered and not only did they process the claim and got me my check within two weeks, but they automatically adjusted my premium without me having to call and remind them (you get an additional 5% off if your pet is neutered or spayed and an additional 5% if they are microchipped). I would definitely recommend them to other pet owners. I hope they stay this way because this kind of service is hard to find.
