Good Claim Response So far!
We've been with Trupanion for a little over a year with both our Yellow Lab (1 yr old) and Kitten (1 yr old). Our vet recommended them when we were getting their first checkups. We did some research and read the good reviews and decided to give it a go. We're glad we did. Our Lab had kennel cough (much to our efforts to prevent it) and the ER tests on a holiday was covered. Our Kitten recently swallowed an object and we were not prepared for the $3k+ ER visit and surgery for that, we lucked out and the surgery was not needed but the tests, etc cost several hundred. After submitting the claim request we quickly received a response that it was being reviewed then followed up communication on its progress. We promptly received our reimbursement check (minus of course our deductible and coinsurance). It's come in handy already and we're only a year in.
Only bummer is sometimes large claim files get lost in FAX neverland - although they cleared that up quickly after we resubmitted which was great.

I'm a believer
When I first started looking into pet insurance I was very leery of the whole concept. I calculated the cost of raising a dog over an average life span and thought that perhaps the benefits of pet insurance might not outweightinsurance cost per lifetime of my pet. I am definitely one of those people that tend to think nothing would or could possibly happen to my pet, I'm responsible, he's a house dog, etc. After speaking with several old hadn pet owners (friends, my parents, friends of friends)I decided to bite the bullet. In less than a year it proved to be very helpful. My little 15 lb Ace got a cat tail stuck waaaay down his ear canal while bounding through a field with weeds twice as tall as he is. The removal cost me about $325, after submitting my claim, Trupanion reimbursed me 90% in 2 days!!! I was expecting a week. I am very pleased with the concept that they will reimburse for illness and injury and not for the cost of services you would normally incur. After all, if you didn't have it, it would cost you the same. Lastly, i want to mention that their customer service and responce time is really admirable. Typically, the online chat is friendly, quick and polite. All of my emailed inquiries were answered in a day.

ASPCA provides good service
I've had ASPCA pet insurance for several years. I've used it for two claims and in both situations they provided timely claims processing and payment. When I've called them, they are very nice on the phone and helpful. I think it's reassuring to have this coverage in the event that one of my cats has a serious condition that I might not otherwise be able to have treated. I wish they covered more preventative service (i.e., dental cleaning), but that's my only complaint.

Quick, Easy Review & Approval
Embrace is the first pet insurance I've used ... although I've had dogs for many years. They're proving to be fast, polite and accurate. Thus far, I've only had one claim, that they quickly approved against my deductible. It seems they're straightforward and professional.

Gives me peace of mind
When our puppy, Trixie, a beagle-bulldog mix, started vomiting each morning and intermittently throughout the day, we worried that she might have eaten something poisonous. Our vet was able to rule that out with a blood test, but she feared a blockage -- Trixie has a history of "dietary indiscretions," (her beagle half just loves to chew on twigs and leaves). An X-ray was inconclusive because our dog had already lost so much weight, so we were referred to an animal hospital for an ultrasound. When that showed no mass of leaves or stuffing from a toy, the doctors were able to give her medicine to calm her stomach and also subcutaneous liquids to keep her hydrated.
It took a week of medicine and a bland food diet, but Trixie recovered and started to put weight back on. The bills totalled $1400 but Trupanion reimbursed us for nearly $900. It was a huge comfort to have pet health insurance when the puppy that we've come to love was facing an unknown illness.
