I belonged to VPI and was not happy. this is true of two of our other family members not living with us. We have been with PetsBest for 3 to 4 years and they have done well for our animals and us. We would not even try another insurance company.

I wish that I had gotten pet health insurance when my dogs were puppies. I also wish that I had gotten the continuing care coverage for my dog before he got to old. My dog loves to eat chocolate, so it has been important to have the insurance for the couple of occasions when he found chocolate and ate it. Having the insurance meant that I didn't hesitate to take him to the vet when that happened and that saved his life at least once. The fact is that I would rather have health coverage for my dogs and the peace of mind knowing that I can provide them with needed health care if the situation arises.

The response from my vet when I submitted Embrace's "pre-certification" form for my dog's expensive knee surgery (Medial Patella Luxation) says it all - they had never seen a Pre-Certification form from a pet insurance company!! I can't imagine paying the $2,500+ without knowing what, if anything, would be covered. All if my communications with the staff at Embrace has been very thorough and timely which is much appreciated as well. I find myself recommending Embrace to people at work, on the street, anyone with a pet really. Big thanks to Embrace from Rocco and me!! I wanted to share my experience about my Pets Best insurance. I am a retired teacher and upon my retirement I knew there would be a decrease in my monthly income. So, I began to search for insurance coverage for my two cocker spaniels Hannah 11 and Gabriel 6; mainly to cover their yearly checkups and vaccinations. My first choice was VPI because the brochures were displayed at my vet's clinic. After looking on their website, they had exactly what I was looking for in a policy, but as I began filling out the information for each pet I was told they no longer were issuing policies for pets 10 years or older. Hannah had just turned 10. Since she has never been seriously ill I almost just got a policy for Gabe, but that little inner voice told me to wait. So, I began another search for insurance that would cover both of my dogs. I am a big fan of Dr. Shawn Messionnier's website and as I was searching his website that day he mentioned it was a good idea for pet owners to get insurance coverage on their pets. He also recommended Pets Best insurance. I checked out their website and was pleased with the coverage on their policies. They also offered coverage for pets over 10. So, I signed up in October 2008. I have had to file Wellness Claims and a few illness claims since signing up with them. They have been prompt in their payments and paid exactly what they said they would pay. I signed up for the Trupanion 2 month free trial offer. About day 28 into the trial offer my dog ingested two AA batteries. I took him to the Vet and recieved a $616 bill. I filled a claim with trupanion and faxed over the entire medical history. Less then one week later I have a check in the mail for 90% of the bill as promised. They are really easy to work with absolutely zero hassle. The only thing I would improve is the ability to submit claims via email. Not everyone has a fax or enjoys going to the post office. I would have given them a 10 had they had email claim submission.

I just received an email from Embrace letting me know that the first claim I submitted will be covered. I was a bit skeptical about pet insurance and feared I would have to fight for coverage with each claim, but I am very pleased with my experience with Embrace thus far--particularly as my pup's injury was the result of my dinner prep! My girl loves to lie at my feet as I cook and in a moment of just plain bad luck, hot water spit out of a boiling pot and landed in her eye causing major swelling and irritation. I received an email confirming receipt of my claim within hours of visiting the vet and was given a coverage decision in 10 business days. I chose a $200 deductible and the cost for this visit was only $120, so it was simply applied to my deductible. We'll see what happens when I require an actual pay out, but I am hopeful that I will continue to have positive experiences with Embrace. I appreciate the monthly emails, Facebook page with daily tips, and friendly communication. Overall, Embrace seems to be a company filled with people who care about animals and their jobs. When I adopted my first dog (Shamos)as a puppy, I asked my friends for some solid pet owners advice. What would they do over if they could do it again from the start as a pet owner? One friend told me - get pet insurance! Sure enough this has paid off, not only when poor Shamos ate rat poison from my building in NYC, but also when my second puppy, Belle, fractured her elbow joint. ASPCA has quickly and efficiently managed every claim and covered basic puppy exams and maintenance checkups as well as injury claims. They have a variety of plans based on your coverage needs and have a great online management system so you can easily submit and track your claims. You also get a discount for multiple pet coverage. Not to mention, this is an animal organization, not an insurance organization. They have a sincere interest in helping our pet community. I could not have afforded the vet costs to maintain my pups' health without them. Don't be fooled, you can't afford not to invest in pet insurance. Just do it! You'll thank me like I thank my friend every day!

I have nothing but good things to say about Embrace Pet Insurance. I have filed several claims and always received prompt, professional responses from the customer service representatives. They provide such an easy process for claims and of course if at any time I have a question, just a quick e-mail to them and I have a response usually within 24 hrs. I feel much more secure knowing that Chance (my Golden Retriever) is insured because he is just like my child. I want to be able to provide him with the best medical care, regardless of cost. Embrace provides a low monthly premium that does just that for me.

This insurance was founded by a veterinarian. It is the best 37 dollars a month I have ever spent. So far it has covered 80% of emergency care due to seizures, surgery due to injury, monthly medications all costing into the thousands. Each seperate incident has a $100 deductible. This company has never taken very long to reinburse. Never longer than a month, usually within a few weeks. I find them very fair and consistent.
