This is the 1st time that I have had pet insurance for 1 of our pets.. we have had alot of animals in the pass but never purchased insurance for them before. We had a Dobe that was our million dollar dog..and well worth every penny of it, but he had all kinds of health issues and no pet insurance. So we decided all pets would have pet insurance coverage from that point on. So far it has been a good experience with Embrace..

I just signed up for health insurance this past summer since my beloved cat is getting quite elderly. A month or so ago, he was attacked and had to be taken to the emergency vet. I forgot all about my ASPCA coverage since I was so worried about him. My husband reminded me and I filled out the simply and short claim form. I was notified via email when they received the form and when it was processed. My check was mailed very fast. I was so please with my experience that I am adding other pets to the policy. My only problem was that ASPCA excluded portions of the price of some of the services (and all of the price for the Feline AIDS test) based on local prices. This is normal for human insurance as well but it always irks me.

petunia, my boston terrier, has skin disease. it is being treated with atopica, antihistimines & allerderm. she has lost about half her body fur, so i call her my "boston crested". embrace has been outstanding in their claim handling, and also i get the occasional email asking how petunia is, which i doubt no other pet insurance would do. frankly, it is that personal touch that keeps me recommending embrace to other pet owners. they are the #1 pet insurance referral from my vet. petunia is getting better, and for that i am most thankful.

Be wary when selecting any pet insurance provider, read all the fine print. We had the insurance for a couple of years when our poodle developed a growth on her anal gland, the vet monitored it for some months then at the vets advice we opted to have it removed as it was growing. Because the growth was discovered during one year of insurance and removed during the next insurance year (which could be over a period of only a day, depending upon when your insurance year starts and ends), the claim was considered a "Previous Condition" and denied.If human insurance companies did this, it would cause a bit of an uproar, but pet insurance companies, in my opinion, have found and use to the fullest extent, the ultimate legal rip off.

I have had Pets Best Insurance for my two pets for a year and a half before I ever filed a claim. In September 2010, however, I lost my beloved pet Trixie Belle. She died from unknown trauma and within a couple of days of going to the hospital--but not before a battery of tests amounting to more than $1,200. Even though it took me a few weeks, I did eventually call the insurance to let them know. They were very sympathetic and immediately canceled the insurance for Trixie Belle and refunded the remainder of the premium. They also emailed me a claim form to assist me in submitting my claim. Shortly, thereafter, they also sent me a condolences card, noting that they made a contribution in memory of Trixie—something that brought tears to my eyes. Their customer service is just phenomenal. I was so devastated that it took me seven weeks to submit my insurance claim, but only ten days for PetsBest, to send me a check. The payout was exactly eighty percent of the submitted claim minus the copay and without any other reductions. I really appreciated that they did not give me problems or ask unnecessary questions. PetsBest made this difficult time much easier for me by treating me with dignity and respect. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I adopted a Puppy from a Local Animal shelter. She in the first year of her life, had some medical issues and without my ASPCA pet insurance, it would have been hard for me to get her the care she needed. It also covered her normal care and vaccines. It even covers the Flea prevention and Heartworm preventative.

We have a varied group of animal companions (or companion animals if you must), all of varying ages. We decided to try pet insurance and, after all the research we decided to go with ASPCA. We're really pleased that we did. We've been with them now for two years and will be renewing soon for our third. We have a variety of plans, because of the different circumstances of our pets, and we love the flexibility offerred that allows us to pick & choose. Every claim we've submitted has been either approved or denied within a reasonable period of time, and the denials were explained in clear language (usually just not part of the plan coverage for that pet). I am a medical professional and, frankly, if human health insurance was as straightforward as the ASPCA plan, we'd be in MUCH better shape! A concrete example: Our Pomeranian had eaten something (or maybe too much food) and was having terrible listlisness, no appetite and no "output". We were able to face down her $500+ bill with relative calm as we knew some portion would be paid by ASPCA insurance. Would we have taken her in and had her taken care of otherwise - of course - did this allow us to do so without putting us in the poorhouse? Yes. AND we weren't forced to make a choice of who got care when, the same day, our 1 yr old shepherd turned up with a laceration on her face. My dog, Bella, is an almost three-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix (Cavapoo). After checking out several different carriers and asking my vet, I bought ASPCA pet insurance when Bella was just a puppy. In the past, I did not have pet insurance for my Yorkshire terrier and had to make the very painful decision to put him to sleep when he was 9 years old AFTER spending thousands of dollars in the diagnosis and treatment of Cushing’s disease. After that experience, the decision to have pet insurance for my next dog was an easy one. I have peace of mind knowing that a portion of Bella’s medical bills will be covered, thus making the decision to bring her into the vet when she is sick an easy one. The ASPCA pet heath insurance has sent prompt payments for a gastrointestinal infection and ear infection. What I also like about the ASPCA insurance is the ease of submitting a claim. I just go online and fill out a claim form, print it out and fax it in. They send an email confirmation and a check arrives in the mail promptly – EASY!

I've had coverage ever since getting our bulldog a couple of years ago. She is like a typical child, running, playing and having to go to the doctor to get a scratch looked at. The coverage gives the comfort of our dog being taken care of and getting reimbursed for the vet expenses. Recently her eye got scratched and had to get several medicines which were costly. The coverage reimbursed for most of the charges and that really helped. It just gives you more peace of mind to know that there is coverage for pets also.

Unlike the VPI Pet Insurance policy, the primary Embrace policy covers relatively little. Despite having well over $1000 in vet bills since that time, the Embrace accident/injury policy has covered nothing (whereas the generic VPI policy would have). Do not be fooled into thinking that you will be able to add a wellness benefit later; they will not let you during the course of an insurance term. I chose Embrace in part because I expected that the extra cost would be worth what I perceived to be superior customer service. I was wrong about that. To make matters worse, I have had to wait for nearly a month to receive a decision on my claim. I had to call them in order to get a response. I would only recommend Embrace if you are absolutely sure that you want nothing other than accident coverage. I sincerely wish I had chosen VPI insurance as my vet originally recommended.
