Great Insurance

I insured my two cats about 18 months ago - one was 2 years old and the other was 12. I chose Embrace because of the good ratings on this site and the fact that they would cover my older cat, at least for accidents. Many insurers would not cover him at all. Since then my older cat got bit by another animal and the claim process was fast and easy and the check came promptly. Everyone we dealt with at Embrace was pleasant, professional and seemed to really care about our pets. Then my younger cat also had an accident on Thanksgiving day which meant taking her to the emergency clinic at paying high holiday rates. Again, the claim process was fast and easy and the check came in a week. In both cases the claim was fully covered minus our deductible and the 20% co-pay. We are very pleased with Embrace and would recommend them to other pet owners. We just wish they covered people, too!

Nice folks

It took a while to get all the faxes i sent in to get acknowledged and sorted out by the company. But that was partly my doing for sending in multiple items on receipts. Its best to keep your receipts simple and only have claimed items separated on to singular receipts. I was only using the wellness program during this faxing ordeal. It took them a long time to acknowledge my ortho report card. I had to fax it 3 times. I thought I would be getting the wellness claim at the same time, but that never happened. Again, perhaps i was not clear on my end. Once I called and emailed later on, we got it all straightened out. Everyone there is super nice and they answer the phone right away. Thats a hard find nowadays. And all worked out fine after I learned the ropes.

Think Twice if You're Considering Healthy Paws!

According to the Healthy Paws web site, the company covers up to 90% of the cost of treatments and provides coverage for hereditary and congenital conditions. REALLY??? This was NOT my experience! I recently adopted two special needs puppies. Kobi, a mixed breed, was born blind (congenital condition) and I have taken him to the opthamologist at Angell Memorial Hospital in Boston TWICE in his young life of 7 months old now. Both times his tests were normal, including intra-ocular pressures, and there have not been ANY signs of glaucoma, cataracts, conjunctivitis, uveitis, dry eye or any other eye condition that requires treatment. He is blind...that's it. He is on NO medications for his eyes or anything else. Because he is congenitally blind from malnutrition of his mother which caused impairment of his eye development and resulting blindness, I was told by a Healthy Paws representative that they would not cover ANY eye issues. Really? Healthy Paws advertises that it covers congenital conditions! And while I understand that it does not cover pre-existing conditions, Kobi has NONE, outside of blindness. So I could understand if they wouldn't cover an operation to restore his sight (which the opthamologist already told me does not exist), but I cannot understand why the company has determined that it will not cover ANY eye problems. He has no pre-existing or current eye issues as I mentioned. After the "waiting period," the company will cover hip dysplasia in breeds known to

From Very Satisfied to Greatly Disappointed

This is the first year we've had our 11-year-old dog, Honey, covered by pet insurance and we chose ASPCA Pet Insurance. We signed her up on the Level 3. She had some tests and surgical procedures during 2010 and we received reimbursement accordingly. I was recommending them to my co-workers, family and friends. Then came the kidney disease diagnosis at the end of November...I thought "no problem" I'll add the Continued Care Option to the policy. I was told that's not possible, now, because of her age. The company has reimbursed me on all claims, including the battery of tests that led to the kidney diagnosis, however, when the policy renews on January 1st, 2011 her condition becomes "pre-existing" and good luck finding any insurance that will cover it. Thanks ASPCA Pet Insurance! No more recommendations will come from me...

Not happy with deductable increase

Trupanion has been good so far but I don't like the increase and now a deductable has been added. Not sure if it will be worth continuing. Can't see how a contract that was first started can be altered to this degree. Sure does not seem fair. Have always praised your company for taking care of my pet costs at an affordable price. This policy change should only effect new customers starting with Trupanion.

Very happy with my pet insurance

Our two cats are insured by ASPCA. Both had claims last year which were paid promptly. Renewal for 2011 was very easy and affordable. I recommend ASPCA pet insurance to all my pet parent friends.

I love the Wellness Account feature!

I have had Embrace Pet Insurance for only 4 months and since I had a healthy pet, I was mainly looking for a "health spending account" for my pet to cover vacinnations, spay and hernia surgery, and some preventive pet meds. So far I have been pleased and the reimbursements have been paid within 15 days. It is nice to know that you have the money for these preventive measures so that you pet stays healthy. The only negative is that the company wanted all of my pets records from the time I had bought her at 3 months and since she had not been sick and the breeder had already vacinated her, it was a little confusing but with a few phone calls from my vet, where she had her phyical, her health was verified.

Great except for continuning care maximum

Embrace does do exactly what they say and they have some of the best coverage around. Our 1 year old dog has elbow dysplasia and we have already been reimbursed for 2 sets of x-rays as the problem was being diagnosed. The first set was ordered by our regular vet and the second set by the specialty orthopedic vet and these fell in 2 separate coverage years. Today I dropped our dog off for arthroscopic surgery and possible osteoctomy that was pre-certified by Embrace (which was really fast, only a day or two). Our orthopedic specialist was surprised that they would cover this congenital disorder. The only draw back is that she started developing symptoms in our first coverage year and it took until the second to get a diagnosis because initial symptoms were consistent with a soft tissue injury. That means that this surgery falls under embrace's "continuing care maximum" of $2,500 instead of her over all $10,000 maximum which is a bummer for us because we didn't even have a chance to do much in her 1st year of coverage when the symptoms developed and her maximum would have afforded the 80% coverage. Now if the surgery is on the low end of the estimate, they will end up paying the 80%, but anything about that will be out of pocket. Many states don't have this continuing care max and we're hoping it'll be gone in our state (Alaska) for the next policy as embrace is trying to convert all states over. Once that change is made I would give embrace a 10. Reimbursements are p

It is worth it.

Lily was my first dog 1 1/2 years ago. A friend recommended that I get pet insurance for atleast the first few years because you never know what you are going to get with a puppy. I got the insurance and have been very happy ever since. It has paid off, claims are easy to submit, quick turnaround time, and great customer service. I would recommend ASPCA to others (especially with a puppy)
