Great Service, Speedy

I recently purchased ASPCA health insurance for my Great Dane Lola. She hurt her tail a couple months after my purchase and the vet bills became overwhelming. After paying them all, I made a claim. I was reimbursed a good amount of the money within 2 months. The claim forms were very easy and ASPCA health insurance kept me up to date as they processed them.

Caesar II ( GSD)

I had this coverage on my GDS, Caesar II, four years. The renewal premiums always seemed reasonable, until the 15% increase last year. As I realize there would be increase, this was considered more than usual.I purchased this premium for peace of mind. If there was an accident, I knew that at least some portion of my expenses would be recovered. I submitted several claims over the years, and felt that the reimbursement rates were fair. Except for the initial charge for the doctor encounter If I could suggest a change to the coverage, I would re-evalute the geographical findings, as $39.00 is an impractical amount in the year 2011. In speaking with my vet, she very much agrees. I have had some positive experience with the coverage, and would purchase it again.

Great company

Very quick to process claims and keeps you up-to-date via emails. Very easy and no-problem claim processing (they don't give you a hard time on what they cover and what they don't, nor do they try to hide behind legalese or small print). They covered and quickly refunded everything I have submitted to them so far.

Pet Insurance has already paid for itself

We rescued a one year old lab/border collie mix last year. Given the amount of energy Grady has, we wanted accident protection for him in case of an injury. We bought the level one coverage last year. As expected, Grady took a run through the woods and returned with a chest laceration requiring stitches. We were very pleased that ASPCA processed our claim in a timely manner. The provisions of payment were as described at the time of purcahse. We just renewed and increased to a level 2 coverage this year. We will continue to purchase this coverage for piece of mind.

ASPCA pet Insurance SUCKS

I had this insurance on my adult Leonberger for years which is why I selected them for my new Leonberger puppy. His insurance coverage--Level 3--went into effect on November 15, 2010. During the rains we had in Southern California, he skidded down a muddy hill and slammed into a concrete abutment on our patio. That was AN ACCIDENT. He was covered under this policy for accidents--even the lower levels cover accidents on the date the policy goes into effect. He sustained a severe injury to his left front leg and ultimately, he required surgery by a veterinary orthopedist. This insurance company has denied payment of ALL bills, claiming it was an illness. The pathology report and all of the vets have called the mass removed which hampered his growth and ability to walk--a SEROMA. Seromas are caused by trauma, not illness. ASPCA still ignores my calls and letters and refuses to pay. I plan to sue but I would tell everyone to avoid signing up to this company. You are better off without insurance then to pay them a monthly fee when they refuse to honor their own contracts! The worst thing for us is because ASPCA Pet Insurance refuses to pay on this accident, we cannot afford to take him for the physical therapy that he needs to rebuild his leg and he remains in discomfort. I have taken a job and gone to work to save up for his rehabilitation but that takes time. If they would pay what their contract states--80%, we could begin therapy immediately.

Three Active Dogs Make It a Necessity

With three active dogs (Thomas. Daniel and Jenny), there alway seems to be an illness or accident (however minor) cropping up. My husband and I are very glad we have the ASPCA insurance plan and wish we had had it when one of our former dogs (Meggie) tore first one ACL, then the other. My only problem is with the terms of the policy renewal, when a condition is treated in one calendar year and becomes "pre-existing" in the next, resulting in no further coverage for that issue. I can't imagine what would happen if human coverage ended that abruptly.

Pets best saved my beloved cat

My poor cat ate a hair tie. Could not eat anything and had to be saved by surgery. Bill came to over 2 k. I could not effort if it was not for the fact that 80% was covered by Pets Best. Now I have her back and she is alive and well.

an inaccurate description of the excellent coverag

Left VPI because although they were up front about their coverage, the vet I go to is very expensive and their fees were not enough. The salesman for Pets best SOLD me on the insurance with his explaination of the way the benefits work. I told him why I was switching and he made Pets Best sound UNBELIEVABLE. I came to find out that he was right, they were unbelievable. Mia, my 1 1/2 yr old shi tzu had a gastric stomach...(just like a human would have) when I had VPI. I explained to the salesman that VPI did not pay enough and as I said before, my vet is very expensive so I was seeking insurance that would meet my needs if ever I had another problem. As I said, he sold me, he even said that that was not pre-existing. Cancer yes, but a gassy stomach no. That would be like saying if MIA had a cold under VPI and got another under Pets Best, it would be considered pre-existing. Anyway, PB said when Mia had her gassy stomach again that it was pre existing. I told them, and my vet told them in writing the anology about the cold and they still would not pay. I told them what the salesman said and that the only reason I switched was so that I wouldn't have to worry about the extreme costs anymore. Before having this problem, I got another puppy, a male Shi tzu. I got the insurance for him thinking that I was saving myself alot of money in the long run. Another $7 hundred and something a year. I had ia in again about 2 months ago and for a bill of almost $300.00, I re

If you read the policy you will get what you pay f

It really irks me to read some comments about premium costs and that the insurance dosn't pay for exam fees, teeth cleaning, shots...Did these people not read the policy. Trupanion's policy is so simply and very easy to understand. If you are looking for that type of coverage there are plans out there that cover teeth cleaning and shots and exam fees. Don't bash because you didn't read the policy. My kitty had cancer and Trupanion paid 90% of her cost with no deductible. They paid over $15,000. So what if I had to pay a couple of $50 exam fees. Big deal. Trupanion paid a whopping about and I have my kitty today because I was able to get her the best state of the art treatment due to the fact I had Trupanion paying 90%. I submitted a claim every week for over 12 weeks, never was one lost or messed up. This is a great insurance. I am so thankful to have had it. It really bothers me when people leave negative reviews because they didn't do their homework. Trupanion does exactly what they say they will do!
