Very interesting concept, but would like to compar
Very good follow-up & prompt response. Would like to compare pricing & coverage to other companies. We only had a 1 month trial,so I'm not sure our rating for Trupanion can be fair or unfair.

Peace of Mind
In the recent past, I know of someone who was presented with an $8,000.00 bill to cover the expences incurred attempting to keep a standard poodle alive. Unfortunately, the dog did not make it through the surgeries, blood transfusions and other treatments provided to him. Would YOU ever want to make the decision about your pet's welfare based solely on the cost? I know I wouldn't. Pet insurance has become as important to our pets as health insurance is to us. ASPCA is reputable and honest in its evaluations of each claim. Just weigh the cost of the premiums against the peace of mind it affords you, and the protection it provides for our loving pets.

Lifetime Customer
Our dog Mac (18 mo. Valley Bulldog [Bulldog/Boxer]) ruptured his ACL. After our intial vet visit, follow-up xrays, then referral to a specialist for consult and surgery, our boy managed to rack up over $4000 in medical bills.
Coverage has been excellent, and I am comfortable calling trupanion to discuss my coverage. Unlike my car insurance where I'm afraid to even call them for risk of my rates going up. Vet consultations are not ever covered, which is clear from the beginning, and it is fair that the low rates don't relect the expense of going to get second or specialist opinions.
The surgery itself was pre-approved. We picked our boy up on Wednesday, I had a cheque in my hand the following Monday.
It took longer for the bank to process my cheque than it took trupanion to issue it!

Stop Comparing - Healthy Paws Is The One!
We've only ever had two pet insurance plans, the first one for over 10 years with our beloved pooch who passed in 2009. Then we adopted a rescue in 2010 and I started researching insurances like crazy trying to find the best fit...I initially chose Healthy Paws because of their believe and backing with rescues, but now after filing two claims I've realized how absolutely amazing they are and will never look for another insurance again.
You know how you wait around to see if your insurance company has even gotten your claim? Well, Healthy Paws replies within 48 hours that they have received it and that it's in process. Then another 1-5 days later you receive a very nice email with a PDF of the breakdown of how they are handling the situation.
So, stop looking and comparing...the bus stops right at Healthy Paws and you won't need a return bus ride anywhere!

Learning Experience
This is the worst insurance, very expensive, very unorganized provider. My experience has been one disappointment after another. They have very many "fine print" exclusions. They represented one thing, clearly delivered another (denied claims). After actually having to utilize this insurance with claims lost by the AKC, rude customer service, denied claims for coverage I thought I had, I cancelled with them and now I have credible coverage with a provider who does not have the "Gimmicks" the AKC does. Good thing I did this since my puppy has dysplasia, the AKC would have never paid for it. My new provider thankfully does and let me tell you I am well over $5,000 in expense. So WATCH OUT for the $5,000 maximum with this provider.
Now my pups are in good hands with insurance since the AKC is no longer provides insurance with them.
READ, READ and READ again the fine print. Don't fall for the name as I had, because you know what -- the joke was on me.
