Seems like a wise choice!

I am a skeptic and so I have waited to comment until all was said and done. Took a little while to understand the workings but in the end Embrace did what it said it would. They got it right and it looks like I did too!

A Good Choice

I chose Embrace because their coverage is based upon the cost of care (versus a set schedule of pre-determined amounts)and because they cover "alternative" care. I obtained my policy as soon as we brought our puppy home, never expecting to make a claim until he was a senior citizen. But at 5 months of age my Afghan puppy injured his knee in a manner that is usually treated with surgery and usually results in permanently diminished ability. I chose instead to treat him with homeopathy, physical therapy, chiropractic and accupuncture. Embrace covered all of these treatments without question or objection once we ironed out the kinks in getting the claims submitted. (I recommend email over fax submissions.) They have always kept me updated regarding the status of my claims and the checks arrive when scheduled. Best of all my now 15 month old boy is happy, healthy, energetic, active(!) and completely sound.

The amount of reimbursement is very Fair.

We took our pet Doxie Ginger to the Vet twice this year. The first time she had an ear infection and the second time her anal glands were full. We received a fair reimbursement for both claims submitted

Pet's Best Saved My Cat's Life

To make a VERY LONG story short... after "spots" were discovered on my cat's lungs, a test came back from the lab with the diagnosis of "possible Lymphoma." I took Francis (my cat) to the oncologist vet, and going off the same report and xrays, gave me some grim news. Francis may have a year to live... if that... He seconded my vet's opinion - give him steroids and love and take it a day at a time. After some months of giving him the steroids slow down the progression, it seemed that it might be time to get more aggressive with the disease – or put him mercifully to sleep. But before I could make a truly informed choice of what to do, in good conscious, I HAD to find out exactly what kind of cancer we were dealing with, if there was any hope - and if putting him to sleep would be the right decision. The only catch was, the required tests were VERY expensive, but I said to myself, "this is why I have insurance for him, right?" Well... when the more expensive and extensive test results came back, it was discovered that the initial lab report was WRONG! Yes, Francis had spots on his lungs, but they were from a lung infection - NOT Lymphoma. I was upset that, because of a dodgy lab report, my poor little cat had to suffer with a treatable illness for almost a year - but I was also relieved that the illness was curable with a month of antibiotics. I can imagine that many pet owners in a similar predicament might choose to simply euthanize their pet,

Trupanion is pretty good insurance

I got reimbursed $1236.00 of the $1500 that I put out for my 14 month old dog's luxating patella knee surgery. It did not take very long. I have not heard from them on the claim that I filed prior to this one for the lab tests at her regular vet, which helped them to diagnose the problem though. All in all it was a good experience. Way to go Trupanion. Holistic coverage would be nice too.

Frustrating

So far I've submitted 2 claims, both which took a while to process, which is ok, but my concern is lies with Embrace's record keeping. When I received the email notifying me of my second accepted claim, they forgot to apply my previous claim toward my deductible which makes me a little (a lot)weary of their record keeping. My advice, keep all correspondence and pay close attention to the numbers. I hate to have to play accountant but it's apparent that this company doesn't seem to pay attention to that sort of thing. So far this has been my experience. I hope this improves! Also, try to find a plan without a deductible. So far, for me anyway, this insurance hasn't been worth it.

Healthy Paw

I recently bought two insurance policies for our 9.5 year old dogs. The day after the waiting period I found a growth at the back of our dog's paw that had to be removed. Healthy Paws was great! I submitted my claim, mainly hoping to have the expense go toward my deductible. They were very helpful, processed everything quickly once my vet faxed all the medical records. I was very happy that they accepted the claim! I have found everyone I've spoken to at Healthy Paws to be very helpful and professional. I am giving pamphlets to my vet's office!
