Trupanion-coverage concern

So far I've had one or two minimal claims, and I mean under $50--my terrier is over 2 now, but has enjoyed perfect health. His breeder has urged me not to immunize him any further until he is 7, as they can encounter complications and his immune system is likely to be damaged by being injected with disease. My sister's Sammy got kennel cough even after being immunized--the booster does not protect against all viral forms of kennel cough. I'm afraid if I don't immunize, and he gets something like kennel cough, Trupanion will not help. Do they even test which strain a dog gets? Could we even know if was s strain covered by the booster? I keep him out of dog parks now & I groom him myself. But I do not want to set him up for illness by making him sick from his shots. I read the veterinary industry is reviewing their immunization schedule because of health concerns. Any thoughts?

Received insurance reimbursement as promised

My dog was bitten by another dog while walking on a nature path. She was bitten on her front right paw. We took her to the emergency animal hospital where she received about three staples. The price was high but I felt comfortable knowing that my insurance would cover the majority of the costs. The ASPCA pet insurance met all of the standards that they had committed to when I first signed up. This was the first time I needed to use my insurance and I have been very pleased with the service.

Fantastic Experience with Healthy Paws!

Our active one and a half year old dog, Joey, suddenly began limping after playing at the park. A vet visit, diagnostic tests and then a consult with a surgeon confirmed bilateral elbow dysplasia. This was completely unexpected, and additional treatment (CT Scan, possible surgery) will cost several thousand dollars. As anyone may imagine, this has been and is very stressful news. However, we have been thrilled with the prompt, efficient, professional and friendly service we have received from Healthy Paws. Submitting a claim was so easy, and we received reimbursement within one week! On top of that, our questions about coverage were answered right away and we were told that Healthy Paws would, in fact cover any further tests or surgery needed. We can't say what a relief this is, so that Joey can get the treatment he needs. Thank you, Healthy Paws!

Rowdy's Belly Ache.......

Rowdy-our 7 month Shiranian-had gastoenteritis. He is small-10 pounds. I could not get him to lick an ice cube for fluids. It was July and hot!! We brought him in and as expected, he was admitted for IV fluids and medication to quiet the nausea and vomiting. He stayed less than 48 hours and was much improved when we brought him home. Trupanion, as quoted when we signed up, covered $1400.00 of a $1700.00 bill. The entire process took less than three weeks. We are so glad we have this policy. Effortless and comforting to ave . I would highly recommend this company. We were referred by the office staff at the vet. They started the enrollment procedure for us, very easy as promised!!

We are ecstatic with Trupanion's coverage for our 7 month puppy. He had an emergency admission for a stomach ailment. I submitted the proper paperwork and was notified promptly that the claim was under review. Once approved, the check arrived in two days. I wish we had this for our first dog. While shocked by the hospital bill, I was so relieved that we had purchased this insurance.

More than Adequate

While we were quickly reimbursed for our initial claims...I was surprised that they separated the diagnoses and prorated the deductible on each. I am surprised and disappointed that they do not cover diagnostic exams and preventive health. It would seem that they suffer form the same malaise as does human health...they pay for illness not wellness. the verdict remains out for me until I see how they handle the second leh of our 11mo old pup with luxating patella knee surgery. Since it was diagnosed at the same time, my sense is that the deductible is paid! We'll see.
