pets best is the worst pet insurance

i have had problems from the very beginning, i was not given the rates i was quoted, the rates charged were much higher. they did not tell me that the deductible is per incident. so if you have several things that you are seeing the vet for in 1 visit, you could be charged several deductibles and not get anything back. there did not cover heartguard on my 2 pets, said they did not know the registered name of heartguard was the same product....it is a mess and i cant wait to leave as soon as possible. i have already moved 1 pet to another insurance company.

Awesome

I am rating Pets best 9/10 because overall they are awesome but it was not as easy as I had thought to submit a claim... I have it for emergency care only for 2 cats. and the monthly bill after taxes is 46$ which I feel is reasonable. I have had it for 3 months and had to submit 1 claim. I took both my cats on vacation to visit my family and my incredibly curious kitten chewed on an advil liquid gel cap! yikes! if yo don't already know that puts cats into kidney failure if not treated imeditley!!!! So everything we needed to do was out of state, and not with our current vet. Pets Best did not even question any of that. AWESOME! Submitting claims by mail or fax is very easy. And finding out what they require to process the claim is easily acessible. the reason I gave a 9 out of 10 is because submitting the claim on line is tricky. And I was unclear of what they define as the "copay". The copay for my kitten was the emergency visit cost. So I had to cover that as well as my 250$ deductible. Which I felt was a little unclear when I had first signed up. For submitting claims online I had about 8 pages of documentation. After I had scanned each page into the format requested online all 8 pages were too big of a file to place on the account. Increasing the size allowed would be beneficial. I then tried to submit it by fax. My fax was fickle and only sent 3 pages. Within 8 hours I received an email that the claim was not complete and listed EXACTLY what was

So glad I chose Embrace!

I have only turned in 2 claims and the turn around is very impressive. The Customer Service is amazing. I lost a pet and did not have her insured and knew then that I would never have another pet with out insurance and hope and pray I don't need it. I checked many different carriers and chose Embrace not by price but the service I received while I was shopping. They answered questions I hadn't thougth to even ask and I feel that I have the best coverage for my pet, they even ask for me to send a picture of him. Happy customer!!!

Good, helpful company

Both my dog and cat have needed care since we had them insured with Embrace. They are easy to deal with, clear in coverage and helpful in getting claims processed. You feel confident that, if your pet does need care, the last thing on your mind can be the cost. Thanks for your help, Embrace!

Denying coverage for a non pre-existing condition!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my experience with you. I have an 11.5 month old puppy. We took our baby to the vet for a checkup the very first day we received him at 3 months. Our vet indicated mild crepitus. We took him back to the vet at 7 month for his ortho-wavier where the vet indicated that there are no orthopedic issues, no stiffness or lameness etc. At 11 months, our puppy started limping. We took him into the vet's office where he was diagnosis with elbow dysplasia. As parents, we rushed him into surgery the following business day. We notified Embrace of the situation. They indicated that they would not provide coverage or reimburse any claims related to his elbow dysplasia indicating that this is a pre-existing condition based on mild crepitus. We have asked for scientific evidence that mild crepitus is related to elbow dysplasia. They have not been able to do so. In addition, our vet wrote a letter indicating that the two are NOT related and that the mild crepitus was due to the fact that he is a large breed puppy with bones that were still growing. We also had another vet who performed the surgery contact Embrace and also advise them that these two conditions are not related!!! Despite the fact that these two vets are unrelated and that both advised Embrace that mild crepitus does NOT equal and is NOT a precondition to elbow dysplasia, we still received an email from Embrace’s CEO stating "Under the Terms and Conditions of your policy (see

Ruger

Our experience with Trupanion has been amazing. My beloved 2-year old black lab, Ruger, was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. After further exam, the vet found a large mass in his abdominal cavity. Ruger needed immediate surgery, which lasted 2.5 hrs. The vet found 3 different fox tails that had made their way through Ruger's esophagus and into his abdominal cavity. He also had part of a lung removed. Fox tails are HORRIBLE!!! And, with a hunting dog, how do you avoid them?? 3 weeks after surgery Ruger started to have complications, and 5 weeks from surgery there was nothing more that the vets at our hospital could do for him. We had to say goodbye to Ruger. I want to thak Trupanion for giving Ruger that extra month to be with us and to give him a fighting chance. Otherwise, we would never have been able to afford the hospital bills,, which, by the way, have totaled over $15,000!! Thank you Trupanion for all you did. And, we now have a new black lab make puppy that is Ruger's brother, and yes, he too will be insured by Trupanion!
