I am impressed with Trupanion, fast response and payment, emails to tell me whats going on at each stage.Company seems to really care about your pets.Was with Petcare before, slow to pay limits, are not high enough, even with the top policy I had.Keep it up Trupanion.

We used our policy for the first time after two years of paying for our two dogs and three cats. A trip to the emergency vet for one of the dogs cost $800. We were reimbursed approximately $400. The "reasonable costs" seem to be the primary culprit. Perhaps the emergency vet does charge too much. Hard to say since we don't know how they determine "reasonable costs" for our area. But like all insurance, you're betting you'll get your money's worth; they're betting you won't. Only time and misfortune or lack thereof will tell.

mouth injury
our dog chewed a stick and got a splinter stuck in her gum that resulted in an infection. It took some time to get the infection cleared up. The insurance for the veteranry services seemed very uncertain.

So far so good.
So far my puppy has had only a stomach affliction. It took quite a while to be reimbursed, but it is great to have the peace of mind to not worry about taking him to the vet for any sickness.
