I had originally used VPI to insure my two dogs dating back to around 2002 but switched them to Trupanion about two years ago after reading an article in Consumer Reports. I am so glad I did this!! In my experience, Trupanion has much better coverage.... no caps on expenses for an injury or illness and and the coverage and deductibles don't change as my pets get older. This is a huge benefit compared to VPI. In addition, Trupanion emails me through every part of the claim process, has taken the time to call me regarding specific claims, and overall has been very helpful. My only additional comment is that the "90% coverage" is a little misleading. When my dog developed cancer, I took her to a specialist. While they have covered 90% of her treatments (minus the deductible) so far (some are still pending), the initial $200 consultation was not covered. Ultimately, this doesn't make a difference... I would still have taken her to the specialist and I would still use Trupanion! (And to be fair, I may have missed this in the fine print print of our policy.) I just remembered from the website the "90% coverage" and this wasn't quite accurate. Overall, I have been very happy with Trupanion and I have already recommended them to several friends with pets.

Pet insurance - level 3 - has worked out great for me and Jackson. Prices for vet care in NY are expensive and the insurance helps.

My 2 year old dog Sasha has already had several medical issues in her short life (she loves to eat things she isn't supposed to!) Pets Best has assisted me in 2 stomach surgeries for Sasha, a surgery to re-do her original spay that caused an infection, and most recently, a hip injury that luckily, needed no surgery but plenty of x-rays! All of my claims were handled so quickly and with no questions other than verifications from our vet. One claim was processed and received in under three days! I am so happy that I decided on getting pet insurance and especially happy that I chose Pets Best!

We have rescued two dogs, we don't really know either of their medical histories. Our second rescue is accident prone and well 1500 dollars later, she is doing fine. We purchased ASPCA insurance after we tried a competitor, nothing we claimed was approved thru them. Our last visit which was pretty much a wellness check-up and booster shots- over half was reimbursed (none of which would have been covered by the other insurance plan) Our dog is doing fine now, and the insurance at time feels like over kill. But anything can happen with our pets so we have peace of mind knowing, she is covered and we don't have to worry should something happen.

You can decide upon which deductible amount and the deductible is per incident (illness/accident), not each time, so very reasonable. The staff at Trupanion is very friendly and caring. They kept in touch and let me know the process during this hard time. I would recommend Trupanion!

I really love this company. They obviously care about their customers: animal and human. When I recently submitted claims they followed up to let me know they were being reviewed and that it may take a few weeks due to recent volume. After the claim check was sent, they followed up to make sure I got it. I did not, but they contacted me (rather than me having to hound them) which was impressive. They quickly issued a new check which I received within a few days. The check was exactly the amount I expected.I know the names of the employees at Embrace and they know mine.
