THe more pets you have, the more you need protecti
We have a total of 8 dogs in our home, allof whom are family pets and are very much part of the family. I am a runner and took four of the larger dogs (2 Rotties and teo American labs) with me to run every morning. Just as with human runners, one of the dogs needed the equivalent of an ACL repair because of a serious tear that had hobbled her. I had maintained the insurance for over a year on the recommendation of a patient who'd had a similar experience, so we were covered for $1500 of the $2500 or so total expense involved in surgery and related expenses. It made a real difference in our decision-making about this beautiful dog, who is 6 and still has a lot of good years left.
My only criticism is that the event limit on policies neds to be higher. Right now, there is no effective downward pressure on vet charges for office visits, surgery, etc., and although I don't begrudge my vet any of what I have paid, there needs to be some check on rates besides "whatever the traffic will bear." Until the insurance industry for pets becomes influential enough and covers anough pets to begin to dictate what will be paid for surgery, etc., as has happened with people ("managed care"), insurance needs to allow for generous benefits for major surgery like this. That said, I am glad to pay my premiums and I won't do without pet insurance.

Greatest Pet Insurance Provider I've ever had
I really did not think pet insurance was worth it as I had had VPI many years ago and had severe problems with their "lack" of policy, paying on time or paying at all for someone with a platinum plan. I cancelled and did not have insurance for many years. Within the past 3 years, I now have 3 new pets. I have to say that they are young and do not have any major medical problems, but they have had incidents. I email my claim form and bill to Vetsbest and it is processed literally within 48 hours. I can go to my customer portal and see what they have paid. I cannot tell you what piece of mind this gives me to know that as my dogs and cat age, I have a safety net to help me with the expenses. I recommend Pets Best to my doggie friends and to my customers. 5 Stars from me.

Prices are increasing yearly
We signed up 2 years ago for Healthy Paws because we understood it was the best. We've already had a premium increase, and are scheduled for another. Apparently the premium increases every year, but they don't tell you that going in. We have never filed a claim, so all the below information doesn't apply, however, this is something people need to know in advance.

Hard to get started with Embrace....
Hard to get started with Embrace.... It took more than four months to get medical records reconciled with actual facts of the dogs conditions. I understand why insurance companies do not cover existing conditions, however the exclusionary policy left me at odds with Embrace. Most people would have given up the fight....we were finally able to get the exclusions removed.....Embrace did cover the examination costs....

Great dental coverage
I had a large dental bill on my pomeranian with an unexpected tooth extraction due to infection below the gum line, so it also required antibiotics. The total was just shy of $500.00 and Embrace paid the max amount of $400.00 no questions asked. Also, Anna was always in contact with emails, nice not to wonder whats going on. I give them a 10 rating at this time. ;)

Customer Service
I bought pet insurance for peace of mind. However, in the back of my mind I was dubious as to whether it'd be worth it should something happen to my sweet dog. At 8 years old, my dog was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor, and had to undergo chemo. Embrace came through on basically all of our claims. Admittedly, sometimes the paperwork was a hassle, but the customer service was always expedient and professional. Thank you for easing one burden at a rough time.

Hugh rate increase
My greyhound had an injury to her right front leg which required x-rays and medication. All claims were paid in a timely manner and I was pleased with Trupanion until I received notice that my premiums would increase by 62%. I can lower the premium by having a dedutible which would save me $10 a month and each separate incident would have a $50 deductible for each incident. The office visit plus the deductible means a cost of $100 per incident per visit.
