Horrible insurance!

There are soo many other pet insurance carriers that are extremely better than ASPCA! I just found out that my 16 week dog has Addison's disease and because I didn't take out additional insurance out on her ( continuing care) that they will no longer cover any illnesses related to her disease when her insurance renews in a couple months! First of all, why does the insurance have to reset on a yearly basis and what the hell was continuing care when I enrolled?!? I wasn't told about it!!! I have 4 dogs on ASPCA insurance and I'm canceling all if their policies and switching to VPI pet insurance, they are ALOT BETTER!! I spent a ton of money for policies on 4 dogs and my claims were always rejected because they apparently were not "approved" charges by ASPCA!! What the hell is approved than, they are vet visits for illnesses, vomiting, diarrhea...etc. oh wait is it b/c I have to wait 180 days without and between instances?!? I'm glad I paid for half a year for no reason!! Your insurance company is aweful and I will suggest everyone else to look elsewhere. I would be more understanding if a portion of my policy fees went towards ASPCA homeless or shelter animals but apparently no money does. Just horrible!!!

Would you not insure your children ????

For a low monthly payment, your pet child can be insured.Of course you don't get every penny back that you spend at the vet,but I am sure your health insurance policy have deductibles ,co-pays and numerous other cost that come out of your pocket, just the facts of life and today's economy.I know I sleep better knowing my family has health insurance, including my dog and ASPCA has paid me much more than I have paid them in the past 5 years.

This year we definitely saved money

We have insured both our dogs and cat with the plan. For an indoor cat, we have never used the plan but I feel good knowing I have it. Some years I don't use it at all for the dog, and other years - like this one - we've used it a lot. Claims are processed quickly and the paperwork is easy. My only complaint is the "reasonable and customary" charges. We live in a very expensive part of the country. I don't ever get back 80% of my vet bill after the deductible. It's closer to 60%. Even with that, I'm still ahead this year and that's counting paying my premium for another 6 months.

Outtstanding Customer service

I had just arrived home from a short trip to family, leaving the care of my 6 cats with my husband. Only to find 5of my 6 cat's greeted me, which I found odd as my 17 month old cat Brandy whom was no where to be found. As I looked thru the house I noticed a drop of blood on the window sill, which with 6 cats it was not something to get excited about but made me concerned to find where Brandy was.I found her laying in a pile of towels my husband dumped at the foot of the basement stairs. One look at her I knew something was wrong and decided that it merited a trip to the Emergancy Vet.On the way there the cat had a bowel movement and when we got there we saw that she had a spontanious GI bleed and bleeding from the gums of the mouth and was Anemic. Her platlet's plummet to half of normal count and needed a blood transfusion Stat.Where 99.9% of all cat's have AB blood type Brandy has the rarest Blood type being B.The Emergency Hospital called all the Tri-State area to find her blood, several hours later they found 90ml of red blood cells. The blood alone cost $2000.Now stable we ran every test, had all the tests read by a hemotogist specialist and could not find cause. 5 day,s later the little Miss is home and no worse for the wear. This was my first claim, Healthy Paws processed her claim within day's, called me personally and asked how she was doing and gave me the update with the underwriter. I got the confirmation the following day and had the check in 3 days.Today I called Custo

Trupanion is worth the investment!

Trupanion is great to have just in case my dogs have medical expenses that I cannot cover. It's affordable pet insurance that offers owners peace of mind in knowing that my animals are being cares for.

Caring and Fast payer

I joined Trupanion earlier this year, soon after I rescued 2 kittens from a shelter. So far my experience with them has been very positive. One of my kittens suffers from frequent vomiting, we still have not found the cause. Trupanion has paid up quickly and efficiently each time I made a claim and enabled me to conduct an expensive ultrasound. I also like that advisors on the phone are well trained, always friendly and (at least appear) genuinely concerned about my pet. The only downside I can list so far is that payment requests have to be filled out by fax or mail. An email system would be much more efficient.
