Decent reimbursement, but tough on older dogs

I bought ASPCA for an 8 year old golden retriever when I first adopted her, and the premium was reasonable $25 per month. When she turned 10, they increased it to $45 a month. I thought that having a prior relationship with them would mean they wouldn't overcharge just as my pet ages. Also, the policy can vary from state to state. I adopted my dog in Montana, but currently live in Oregon. I just found out that due to policy changes in Oregon, my dog is no longer eligible for ASPCA insurance. Oregon's rules essentially require that ASPCA insured dogs have the "extended care option". I would enroll my dog in it, but they will not enroll any dogs over age 8. I'm pretty ticked off that ASPCA is essentially kicking my dog off of their plan just because she aged, and that now I'm having to search for new insurance plans and enroll a 10 year old. (It's insanely expensive). When I did submit claims, they were generally accepted and reimbursed promptly. In this regard, ASPCA was better than my human health insurance. Claims I submitted were fairly minor and included a hurt paw, eye infection, and metabolic panel.

Amazing support

We had our 100lb dog tear his ACLU and needed surgery to reconstruct it. We are a young family and the cost of the surgery would have been impossible it hour Trupanion. We found out on a Friday he needed the surgery and they needed to get it done quickly so he was scheduled for surgery the following Wednesday. With such little time there was no way to pre plan the claim and we had to pay out of pocket first and then wait for the reimbursement. The call centre staff at Trupanion were amazing. I talked with them multiple times and let them know our situation and they went above and beyond to do everything they could to make sure they had all the information they needed so they could process the claim quickly for us and get us the reimbursement as fast as possible. I was so great full for all their help and understanding. We had our cheques in hand 2 weeks later. Amazing!

Trupanion is always efficient and reliable!!

My Kobie became very I'll with diarrhea and commuting and I took him to the animal ER. The total bill was $402 and after my deductible of $50, Trupanion sent a check in the amount of $250 to cover a good percentage of the bill. Everything that isn't a pre-existing condition is generally covered! The only thing that isn't covered is the office visit fees and the 10% that is required (the policy is 90/10 coverage). I'm happy with the outcome and feel that this is the best insurance provider I could find :-) I have filed 3 claims and all have been taken care of efficiently!

Efficient and reliable

We have two dogs, an older mixed breed, and a 2 year-old cane corso. They have had various minor health problems in the past, our corso recently required a TPLO surgery for an ACL tear. Because of our past positive experiences with Healthy Paws, we were able to focus on taking care of our pet instead of worrying about how we would be able to afford this expensive surgery ($3600), they have also covered the rehabilitation procedures for him, including cold laser treatments, no questions asked. They are very efficient at processing claims and we have never had any issues in the two years that we have had coverage with them.

New to Embrace

Me and my little pup are new to Embrace. We went for her puppy exams and got her vaccines. I didn't file them right away. I got an email asking that the vet fax records with a copy of the email. I didn't need to do anything but give them the email. I got an email from Embrace letting me know they received her records. I filed the claims. I got an email within days that they were processed. I got the checks a couple of days later. And then got a follow up email to make sure I had received the checks and if not was asked to contact Embrace so they could be tracked.Very, very good customer service!
