I am so glad we chose Trupanion for our dog's insurance. She is recovering from surgery because of a luxating patella on her left rear leg. We submitted a preapproval claim to them before her surgery. They told exactly what they would pay. After her surgery we submitted the final bill to them. Within one week of the surgery we received an email telling us their check to us was being sent. I would recommend this insurance to anyone that has a pet.

This was the first claim I ever submitted so Trupanion required my cat's entire medical record from all (3) veterinarians who had ever seen her. Her emergency treatment for ingesting my prescription medication was on March 15 and the reimbursement check from Trupanion was in my checking account on March 25. I enrolled along with the wellness plan and so far everything has been great. I love the no limit on specified benefit like Flea and tick preventives and etc. I just wish the the premiums were lower.

After i submitted a claim for my dogs ACL repair i got a letter in the mail saying that from now on they will only pay 40%not the normal 80%. I called and was told a manual review of the file would be done and someone would get back to me but nothing, as i expected. They said this was done by computer and all files were checked every six months i said if thats the case i have not had a claim in the last six months.

We signed up our now 9 year old Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise mix dog with Healthy Paws just about a year and a half ago. We could not be more pleased with their service! Since we signed him up, our usually very healthy dog has had an eye infection, and "blew out" two of his knees, one a year ago February and then the second in July. He had surgery, followed by physical therapy including hydrotherapy for each knee surgery. He is fully recovered and actually moves better than he did previously! Healthy Paws has done exactly as their contract says. They do NOT pay for preexisting conditions, for exams, or for shots or dental cleanings. They DO pay for treating sickness and injuries, and for meds and therapy including alternative therapies. We chose the $250 deductible and the 90% coverage. Their reimbursement checks have arrived within only a few days of the claim being faxed in. We love them and tell everyone we know of our great experience! Please, please read all the details BEFORE you sign up for a pet insurance. Many of the poor reviews shown here are situations that could have been avoided with a little more early diligence!

When I got my puppy, I was weighing the benefits of pet medical insurance or just setting aside an emergency fund. Following a lot of research online, I decided on Healthy Paws due to the great reviews in customer service and the option of an annual deductible (instead of per-incident). Knowing that I have a hyperactive herding breed, I was imagining all the potential ACL surgeries or hip issues that my dog might encounter in his life, so I got him on a plan as soon as possible. I did not have need for them until March, just one month shy of his first birthday. A dog bite at the park on a Sunday sent him into the emergency vet. He required sedation, surgery, and a lot of medication during the follow-up care. I filed a claim with Healthy Paws, knowing that we will not be reaching the deductible (thank goodness I didn't choose a per-incident policy!) and thought nothing more of it. Just a few weeks later, he started having reverse sneezing fits that persisted for more than a day. Back to the vet we went, and they suggested a nasal scope to make sure nothing is stuck up there. The high quote was more than I was expecting, but since I remembered we were almost at our $500 deductible, I did not hesitate to agree. Luckily, he sounded better the next day so we were sent home with antibiotics... which it turns out he is allergic to. After a short stay with the vet, I filed the claims with Healthy Paws and got a reimbursement check in the mail just a week later. Their claims pro

So glad I had signed up for this insurance. My poor little pooch developed an unexpected limp and it turned out it is a disc in his back, may be degenerative. ASPCA Insurance helped pay for all the vet bills and continues to help pay for his medication. If and when he needs more medical they will be there. Until then the quality of his life has greatly improved from meds and I am so lucky to be insured!
