My husband thought I was nuts getting health insurance for the dog, but I have to give a huge shout out to Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - I joined a few months back and low and behold, last month my Lab tore his ACL, had a very expensive surgery last week - I am so happy I made that decision!!! We lost our 9 yr old blk lab, Big Mike, to cancer 2 yrs ago, and spent more than $8,000 in medical bills trying to save him. Last year we felt we were ready for a new blk lab. Buddy joined our family July 4 weekend at 8 weeks. I decided Buddy would need pet insurance even before we got him, and did a considerable amount of research. Buddy is doing well, but in his first year he: broke his toe; contracted Guardia; and ate pesticide-treated mulch. Embrace has been amazing. My dog has had a whole assortment of health problems this year and they are always quick to turn around my claims and they have not denied a claim yet. I have been so thankful that embrace was recommended to me; I would not have been able to afford these veterinary costs any other way.

Reimbursement seems fair. Expect your yearly premium to go up a lot as dog gets older.

Our choc lab has allergies, and with that along with his regular visits, we've had a few claims to submit. The process is easy and convenient, and the turnaround is quick. I also love that customer service sends you status updates at each phase!
