Coverage was so good, I wrote a NY Times OP/ED
I got coverage for our two dogs two years ago and we are so pleased that we did. Our dog Nelson had a 12.5 spleen mass that had to be removed. Instead of worrying about whether we could afford the cost, we could focus on what was best for Nelson. With a CT-Scan, ultrasound, blood transfusions and the sugary, the cost was over $7000 and Healthpaws pet insurance covered 90% after our $500 deducable. They also covered the follow up bloodtests and medication. The claims department were friendly and easy to work with. Nothing was ever a problem when dealing them them. They paid very quickly- which removed a lot of stress for us. And unlike other pet insurance, there was no cap on the coverage.
I found the insurance so extraordinary, that I actually wrote and OP/ED opinion essay about Healthy Paws pet insurance that was published in the New York Times that was titled "Why I'm jealous of my dog's insurance." You can read it here:

I give Healthy Paws pet insurance my highest recommendation.

Best pet insurance available
I researched all the pet insurance companies I could find and Healthy Paws really stood out because they were the only insurance company I could find that covers hereditary conditions. I have two dachshunds, so I am fearful they will develop bad backs. I've had a few issues with my dog Charlie needing some costly medical treatment and Healthy Paws has been excellent. They are soooo quick to process claims and always give exactly what I am owed with no questions. The customer service has been stellar as well, they are compassionate people wanting the best for my dog. I have been a customer for over 3 years now and had several claims all handled in the same quick and caring way. A+++++

Always great
My Australian Cattle Dog manages to get himself into trouble a few times a year. I have one of the higher deductible plans with PetsBestbut have gotten my money's worth every year. They process claims amazingly fast. This last time (tummy trouble and esophagitis from eating something), I filed the claim late Wednesday and Friday morning my refund is already in my bank account, no questions asked.

Beware of Accidental Policy
In the past Pets Best was great about covering for "medical issues" that I had with my male dog, Chance. Also with an accidental issue when both my male and female pit bull terriers (terrors) decided to take some sinus medication and needed to have their stomachs pumped (my male can open doors). However my recent experience has been a negative one and I will no longer have my pets covered because I am very upset with the situation. My female dog, Chloe, who is 4 years of age, experienced an awful situation January 14th when my male jumped on her back. She yelped and started to walk wobbly for a few days and then within a week her hind legs were paralyzed. I immediately took her to a neurologist and after an MRI it was confirmed she had an "acute" herniated disc compressing her spine 80%. The surgeon reiterated how this was an acute and "traumatic" injury, however with an emergency hemi lamenectomy, Chloe would be able to walk again and had a high chance of recovery. 13 weeks later Chloe is walking again and doing well. 2 APPEALS LATER with letters from my vet and surgeon stating it was clearly from the accident...and Pets Best is still not going to cover any of my claims of which totaed around $8,000 because they are claiming this was not accidental and that she has intervetebral disc disease (IVDD). Dogs known to have IVDD are dashounds, basset hounds, beagles and Shit Tzu. Not a pit bull/bull terrior mix at 4 years old. Prior to this incident Chloe was running, jumping, man

Every dog deserves Healthy Paws
When Jack was a puppy, I knew that I never wanted the cost of medical care to impact what care he should have if he had an accident or became ill. I am so glad I switched to Healthy Paws then. Jack will be five on May 1st and already he has needed a cardiac work up and recently an MRI. No questions asked, the bill was paid promptly and exactly as promised. They make the claims process very easy. I'm a nurse who deals with health insurance companies often and I can say I wish they all could follow the amazing example Healthy Paws provides to our beloved pets.

Fantastic five star experience in an emergency.
And super customer service each and every time I have contact.I have had several small claims and one major emergency claim. Every rep I have spoken with was professional, courteous, and compassionate and best of all understanding.
My beagle basset had the feared hemangiosarcoma cancer and this company came to the rescue with fast claim payment. I was so worried about the bills, but they went above and beyond in my emergency with my dog.
This is the company to have your back and the follow up with them is outstanding.

Peace of Mind
Healthy Paws has been so helpful by quickly processing my pets claims, which gives me peace of mind when it comes to treating any surprises at the vet. I filed a large claim on a Tuesday afternoon and had my reimbursement check the following Monday. I would recommend them to anyone!

Claim for Snake Bite
My dog was bitten by a rattlesnake. After returning home from both the veterinarian office and the animal hospital, I contacted Trupanion. They helped me with the two claim forms and sent an email confirmation of payment right away. Trupanion worked with the veterinarian staff and the animal hospital staff to get the correct invoices. There was absolutely no hassle or work on my part. Within a week, I received two checks for both claims.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
My little "Puffy" had a horrible bout of Pancreatitis that left me feeling nervous about whatever the outcome would be.
I asked the vet that Saturday morning when she was diagnosed and in a terrible state. "What I should do?"
She stated "Get in the car and take her to the Emergency Center" which is exactly what I did. After presenting my credit card to whatever register needed/requested it, she was soon on the road to recovery.
It definitely took time. 2 weeks and many other visits later, Puffy is back to her normal, happy self and I couldn't be more grateful.
It was expensive as Puffy was on fluids and medication but I kept saying to myself "If Trupanion covers 60% then they are worth every penny." Puffy was out of pain and on to recovery.
Trupanion covered closer to 90 percent of the items they said they would and now that Puffy is back to where she should be, Trupanion is more than worth every penny. You are my heros! Thank you for the bottom of my heart!
