Useless customer service
My decision to get pet insurance weighed on any potential pre-existing conditions my cat may have, as she's had some urinary issues in the past and I don't want to be surprised if they won't cover future claims. I requested a medical review the day I started my policy, but they require you to wait 14 days. After giving them all the vet information, they say you won't hear anything during the 30 days it takes for them to do the review. After 30 days I follow up several times to see where the results are, to find out that they don't have records from one of the vets. It's now been 40 days and they have sent a single email to the vet, no follow up emails or call (and I didn't know we were waiting on this, not the review or I would've called).
They send another request and I call the vet the same day and they say they've already sent the records and have no record of any other requests being sent! I ask the Embrace rep for proof of their first request and they relent--they did not send a request for 38 days. Apparently "We, unfortunately, cannot monitor each and every request sent daily but we try and make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible." means they send at best one email and do nothing else without your intervention. At my job, I would be expected to follow up and, if a customer is coming to me after a month of waiting, I would be calling, not emailing, to get a response ASAP. I assume this lack of tenacity extends to their claims processing. Only after sending another email do they promise to rush the actual review.
Once I got the review, I noticed they had dates of lab work incorrect so the curable pre-existing conditions wouldn't be waived for an additional 2 months. I'm sure I could've fought this but I didn't see a point. I'd rather just pay vet bills than add this kind of back and forth to my workload.
Of course when I asked for the 40 extra days they made me wait for the medical results to be added to my pro-rated refund when I cancelled, they said "we can't do a full refund" which was not what I was asking for. Their attention to detail is atrocious. This was a waste of my time and $100.

Insurance that cares & pays... no yearly deductibles!!!!!
Trupanion stood by me when I lost my first Boxer 3 years ago I don't know what I would've done without them by my side. I've referred countless people even strangers to Trupanion and I know of some that signed on and have been just as happy as myself. Not too long ago. There was a story on the today show that was a terrible miss representation of Trupanion. The person they interviewed spoke of and experience with Trupanion that's totally foreign to myself and others that I have recommended to Trupanion. It really upset me because I know how people believe things I see on TV and I just hope and pray that people did their homework before son gone with another insurance company for their pet, if there's one thing that I would change about Trupanion and is the only thing that I would change it's that if they had a credit card top payment for upfront bill to pay the veterinarian so I didn't have to come up with money on the spot I know only one other pet insurance that does that there are other rates are much higher though, because you pay a yearly deductible instead of a per illness deductible for the lifetime of your pet sometimes it is hard to come up with thousands of dollars but I would never stray from Trupanion. In closing I will just say everyone I've ever spoke to that represents Trupanion on the phone has been so kind so patient and always ask about my pet and how he's doing. That's the one I lost and my current boxer I love Trupanion. 🩷

SPOT is a fraudulent company
SPOT insurance is a fraudulent company that refuses to cover vet bills. My dog was seen for an ear infections related to wet ears. SPOT denied the claim because my dog had previously been seen at an emergency vet when she rolled in grass and had foxtails embedded in her ears. SPOT stated that my pet had a pre-existing condition of ear infections which is untrue because foxtail removal from ears is NOT related to allergies or infections. Spot then claims that my dog was diagnosed with allergies and allergies are a non-curable condition therefore SPOT will not cover any visit or prescription related to allergies. SPOT then continues to state that my dog's ear infection is related to allergies. My dog was NEVER diagnosed with allergies or seen by a vet for allergies until the visit when I submitted a claim. For each claim and each appeal I have filed I have been given a different excuse as to why my claim was denied. I was a customer for a few months which is why I believe my claim was denied because SPOT would not have received enough money in premiums to cover the cost of the claim reimbursement. If the excuses for denial were consistent I would be more likely to believe that SPOT was not a fraudulent company, however they know what to say and how to manipulate medical records to deny payment for a claim.

We have AKC insurance and LOVE it
We have AKC insurance since our pup came to us at 10 weeks old. It's well paid for itself when she came, she had Guardia we thought she swallowed something. after all the diagnosis the bill was $789 When we first got AKC insurance it started at $56 a month with the wellness plan, and she is now 3 years old it's gone down to $46 a month we use it for just regular checkups and heart worm testing with the mediations and it cost us a few dollars well worth the price and protection!

happy to have pet insurance
My dog had TPLO surgery and it was rather costly. I was lucky to have a good pet insurance company like Healthy Paws. They handled my claim promptly and within a few weeks, I received my reimbursement. Healthy Paws immediately contacted me that they received my claim...and upon reimbursement, reached out and inquired as to how my dog was doing. I was happy to have the personal touch. I am very pleased I chose Healthy Paws.

Paid over $140/month for 15 years
Dog in great shape, blood work great just can't see or hear. Wanted to give her at least her site. Rat Terriers can live to 22 years. Didn't cover meds, cataract surgery (was eligible) but won't confirm they would pay the bill, $2500/eye. Couldn't risk paying out of pocket. don't know if I would use them again.

Pet insurance
My vet software dropped comment on a visit back in 2022 which was not true! I worked with Met Life to provide details. My vet was finally able to provide a correct record and email saying he had a software issue. My claim was paid out at 90%! I will be finding a new vet for sure! Thank you to the customer service team!!!
