You get reimbursed very fast, that has always been consistent with trupanion.

I took out insurance for Poppy (black lab) at the age of 8 months and I am so glad that I did, as when she turned 4 she underwent cruciat surgery on both her back knees. I was overwhelmed with the cost of her surgeries, rehabilitation, etc., to say nothing of my emotional state in worrying about Poppy's recovery. I am glad to say that Poppy fully recovered and so did I, but wouldn't have been able to go through the financial burden had it not been for Trupanion. I now have a one year old black labrador (sister to Poppy), who I have just insured with Trupanion, knowing that I have peace of mind when it comes to my two girls health....Thank you...

After much research, we chose Figo as our insurance company. They state that any acute condition that has been successfully treated and resolved is coverable under their policy. Our dog has had some stomach problems - he occasionally had had Gastroenteritis (an acute, curable condition). Shortly after we obtained the policy, he had an episode if Gastroenteritis with loose stools and stomach tenderness. Our claims were left to languish for weeks. Only when I called to inquire, did they inform me that they needed more medical documentation from a previous vet. The documents had been in my pet cloud the whole time, but had been "overlooked". Repeat cycle, with them asking for more documentation from current vet three times, but not being specific enough so I could actually submit what they needed to get my claim processed and no communication until I called to ask why the claim wasn't being paid. Finally, after 3 cycles of this, I was informed that stomach issues would never be covered because his sporadic acute Gastroenteritis was a "pre-existing condition". All of the employees I talked to were pleasant a d helpful, but the claims process and denial of anything that your pet has ever had an issue with makes it worthless fir all but young pets. I have also been hearing about outrageous price increases at policy renewal. Garbage coverage.

The claim was paid in a timely manner and the amount was as expected.

We were initially skeptical that pet insurance would even be worth it for our beagle, but when she needed to have emergency bladder surgery to remove stones, we were glad we had it. Claim was extremely easy and took about 5 minutes to fill out. We never felt like they were trying to short change us. We'll definitely remain loyal customers.

Trupanion is awesome. My most recent claim is still being resolved but know it will be perfect in the end.

Their customer service team is top notch. Reimbursement is prompt and they are quick to accept responsibility if an error is made. The flexibility of plans available is almost infinite. The only negative thing I can say is that the premium increase is disproportionate to one year of aging and premiums can become extremely high as your pet ages; even keeping the same plan.. One may want to consider what it would cost to put that money aside as opposed to paying out monthly premiums. I'm sure I've paid out more then what I've received in reimbursement. But I started when they were kittens so now it's too late to change. (Of course, I can always change plans/get a cheaper plan - but the reimbursement, BENEFITS/premiums will be less.) Good for when your cat is a kitten up until 5 years old but costs jump dramatically after that.
