Best Coverage and Price Combination for Insurance

For our walk-on cat who rescued us, Rascally Romeo the Rocket (abandoned by unkind people who shall reap what they sow), MetLife is the best pet insurance that we could find. We made a study of pet insurance plans; and in an hour or less, the clear choice was MetLife Pet Insurance.

Love Healthy Paws

Healthy Paws provides exceptional pet insurance. The Healthy Paws coverage is an extremely good value. The best part about Healthy Paws is that they actually cover your pet's medical expenses and don't try to figure out ways to not pay (which was the case with a previous pet insurance company we used). You get true piece of mind with Healthy Paws at a very fair price. Plus the Customer Service representatives are all friendly and knowledgeable.

Horrible Experiences

First of all, their turn around time for completing claims is awful. Over a month. I had a multi pet plan. The claim for one of my dogs who I had to put to sleep, was denied, first because they said my vet didn't sent records. How about you call me first so I make sure records are send instead of closing the claim a MONTH after I submitted it. Then it was denied after I reopened it because they said he had a preexisting condition. I had to put him to sleep because he had liver cancer but that had not been diagnosed previously. They said well he had a history of elevated liver enzymes. The lack of compassion was astounding to me. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor and the person refused, stating that the decision would change. Then my other pets plan more than doubled in price because they said the cost of everything was going up so they needed to charge everyone more. They changed my reimbursement rate without asking me. I called to double check the new price, was told incorrect information. I called again to double check and that person would go silent multiple times making me think the call was dropped, then put me hold for over 5minutes only to return with more incorrect information. I told her I wanted to cancel the plan. I told her about my bad experience with my other pets plan, she said 'it says here it was denied because of lack of vet records'. I said well you're wrong again and the fact that I have to reiterate what you should have on record about records having been sent after and then it still being declined is crazy to me. Canceled.

Insurance makes a huge difference

Our sweet girl Lily was diagnosed with a large liver mass. Fortunately it appeared to be able to be fully removed by a liver lobectomy. The cost estimate was $8000-$10,000. Without Trupanion we would have had to make the very difficult decision to not have it removed but because we did have Trupanion she had her surgery. Dr Reist and the team at Blue Pearl in Renton were wonderful taking care of Lily and the preauthorization and payment was so easy. Thanks to the Blue Pearl Team and Trupanion Lily is recovering wonderfully at home and I get to spoil her for hopefully many years more.

Amazing pet insurance

We have had MetLife pet insurance since our dog was a pup and they have always taken great care of us. Their claim service is so easy and communication is always there if we ever have questions. Highly recommend

Heartbreaking rigidity and poor customer service...

For years, I've been paying nearly $200/month for my older dog. I've never filed a claim once. In July, she suddenly needed serious dental work (a lot to process financially and emotionally). I'm 9 months pregnant, working full-time, and have been juggling a lot. Yesterday, I sat down to formally file the claim. That's when I learned the window closed 2 weeks ago. I had no idea there even was a claim window---apparently this is only after a policy renews. The rep told me my renewal was 6 days after the procedure (seriously, just 6 days!). For that reason, the window kicked in and they won't even consider the claim. Had the emergency happened a week later, there'd be no issues, which is a reality I'm struggling to wrap my head around. I can't begin to describe how disappointed I am with Embrace, or how stupid I feel for giving them so much money over the past few years... The policy doesn't cover preventive care (I have to pay *another* plan for that), only emergencies; so, now that I'm finally facing one, I can't believe Embrace won't consider reviewing it given how close it was to the renewal... This is an unfathomably profitable company. I'm not sure how a business taking in *so much money* from its customers won't even offer an appeals process. There's nothing patient- or client-centered about Embrace. If you're in the unfortunate position of working with them, please do yourself a favor and (1) read through every fine line of your policy, (2) set calendar reminders for policy renewals, and (3) file all claims immediately. Embrace's policies and procedures are designed to make reimbursement as challenging as possible.

Life saver

Two years ago today, I found out my little man had a tumor on his heart that was leaking fluid. I thought my days were numbered with him. Since then, he’s had 3 heart surgeries, a round of radiation, chemo, a tumor removed on his leg, hypertension, blood clots on his lungs, a late night seizure which resulted in a tumor on his brain, another round of radiation and chemo. He’s on countless meds and gets scans every 8 weeks. The silver lining is he’s still here! Going strong! He wouldn’t be here without pet insurance! They have not questioned one thing. I preach all the time, if you love your pets, get pet insurance. 🥰 #DougtheDog
