Pre Existing Condition claim
I have always had pet insurance. This was an option through work. They easily take your money but when it comes down to a claim, they find a reason to not pay the claim.
My dog tore her ACL and they denied her claim because they said it was a pre existing condition because she tore her ACL in her other leg years ago!!!
I have filed a complaint with the Department of Insurance!

Number 1 Pet Insurance
My Number 1 Pet Insurer. I am a new customer of Lemonade and have already had wonderful experience. Submitting a claim was as easy using the phone App. Although I mistakenly submitted a claim with the wrong amount, I reached out and a representative was able to make the correction with ease and quickly.

Unsustainable
I first signed up for Healthy Paws around, if I recall correctly, 2012, with a late middle age to senior cat. They were fantastic for that cat, so I signed up subsequent pets when the pets were babies. Healthy Paws continued to be excellent from 2012 until about 2019. In addition to murderously expensive annual premium increases, they also have decreased the quality of their customer service. Their premium increases have made their insurance unsustainable and I am looking for options. Their customer service changes have also influenced me to look for other options. They used to be easy to contact, with very helpful and knowledgeable customer service representatives. The reimbursement process used to be lightening fast. The service felt very personal. In the last three or so years, they have become very difficult to contact, and the representatives usually are not especially knowledgeable or helpful. I thinknthey relocated their call centers. The reimbursements take a long time, now, too. I signed up my current pets in 2015 and 2016, when they were puppies or kittens. None of my pets had preexisting conditions and they have generally been very healthy. I feel like Healthy Paws is increasing the rates to an extreme degree. I'm very disappointed with them. I used to recommend them to everyone, but I can no longer do that. I would have to tell people to avoid Healthy Paws. It just isn't what it used to be.
