As Huey was in distress and then did require abdominal surgery, I wouldn't have been able to pay for it without Nationwide. He has recovered fully and is back to being his bouncy, full of energy 2 yo self.

Glad to have pet insurance to help with medical expenses

The insurance help offset the payment, but it doesn't provide a lot of money. I wish that I didn't have to front the money before getting reimbursed.

I always suggest that people look into getting pet insurance when they get a new pet, and a lot of people balk at it (too expensive, nothing will be covered, my pet is young and healthy etc.). We have had two pets covered by Nationwide Pet Insurance and it has been so worth it in both cases. Granted, we were lucky in that both dogs, in their younger years had nothing wrong with them....and so we didn't need to file any claims. But as they got older, they needed dental work (expensive and covered), and cancer treatment (also expensive and also covered). It's super easy to file a claim and it doesn't take long to get a response. Also the customer service is wonderful; I have had to call a couple of times for explanations on claims and they are always extremely friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this company enough.

Nationwide is amazing with their customer service. The ease of submitting the claim, the quick turnaround to receive your money makes having the insurance a must. If I have a question it is answered and if there is an illness involved they calm and sincere sympathy is felt and appreciated.

My most recent visit was to get medication for my rottie. The meds set me back a few hundred dollars. However once I got to my car I opened up the app, took a picture of my receipt, and easily submitted my claim. That was all there was to it! My funds were directly deposited back into my bank account in less than 3 wks. Quick, Easy, and Painless.

I took my dog into the vet to preemptively check for hip displaysia. She is a rotwiller and german shepard mix. Come to find out she does have it. I filed the claim for the vet exams and a month later Pets Best denied my claim saying that documents from the vet suggested that symptoms had started before the insurance coverage started. This is the first time shes been seen by a vet other than shots and has never definite signs of having it. Hereditary conditions are covered under my insurance policy but there claims forms do not have that as a section so I had to file under illness/injury. Now if i don't fight their decision I could have to put my dog down if she starts showing signs of pain and it incapacitates her because I can't afford the surgery. I can't switch to a different insurance because now I know she has it and it I couldn't get coverage for her condition.

This insurance has been a life saver considering I have 6 dogs. and 3 of them are Great Danes. My only issue is the premium is going up considerably and I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to afford it. :(
