Claims resoulution
I'm still waiting on resolution from claims submitted April 2017. Trupanion insists that no appeal was initiated when we sent the information and appeal form 2 times. The vet sent it a third time yesterday and finally I have confirmation of receipt. They also have no record of speaking to the Doctor when he did in fact have verbal contact with Trupanion. I don’t know what has been happening but it is way too much work on my part.
So far I am not thrilled with having claims denied and then months of back and forth with the vet and Trupanion when we did everything that was required. Then a very nice and accommodating person in the phone basically says it’s our fault because you have no records

Coverage
There should be more things covered under the insurance plan. There are new plans out there that even cover well visits and annual teeth cleaning and annual shots.

Great rep
The representative was very nice, in fact one of the nicest I've spoken with at Trupanion. It sounded like it was his first day, so he didn't have all the answers. He did get the manager for help. It turns out my issue was with how the vet's office mistakenly filed the paperwork. I was told to have them call back, but I wasn't given a direct line or a name to talk to when I asked for one. I also asked if he could make a note of our conversation for the next rep when the vet's office calls in which he was happy to do. The rep was truly a pleasure to work with.
In cases like mine, a reference number or direct line would be best. Having to reexplain the same issue to multiple people is aggravating and time consuming. It's also complicated when so many people are involved - me, vet's office, reps at Trupanion.

Not happy
We are VERY unhappy with Trupanion. We are forced to appeal several denials of expensive claims recently. We will NEVER recommend Trupanion to ANYONE - not even an ENEMY. Feel free to contact me.

My Dear Puppy, Ragnar!
My dear puppy, Ragnar, who is an 11-month old lab/pit mix from the shelter, somehow got several large pieces of bone stuck in his tummy. Our vet recommended surgery to remove the obstruction, racking up a bill of over $1200. I didn't hesitate to approve the surgery to remove the obstruction, and did so believing Pets Best would help me recoup much of that cost. And they did! We were a few hundred dollars away from our deductible, and Pets Best reimbursed me almost $900! The claims process was very easy, quick, and the money hit my bank account in under 2 weeks from when I submitted the claim. Ragnar is doing great and back to his wild, troublesome, sweet self!
