Embrace is the way to go

It was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving 2011 and 2 of our 3 German Shepherds were diagnosed with cancer. Brutus with osteosarcoma of the distal radius and Reggie with hemangiosarcoma. After the devastation wore off we had to make the difficult decisions. We decided to do everything we could as long as those decisions did not result in pain or a decreased quality of life for our guys. Brutus was now a tripawd and going for biweekly chemo, you wouldn’t know it. Knowing the severity of Reggie’s diagnosis he had his spleen removed and also had biweekly chemo. There was no way anyone could tell how sick he really was. Fast forward for Brutus he lived a long 2 1/2 years and crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 12 yrs of age. Reggie also lived a good life but due to his type of cancer not as long. After the dust settled reality set in, the medical costs were staggering but we still would have gone the same route. In 2013 and we adopted 2 German Shepherds. Knowing what we went thru insurance was the way to go. We did our homework and decided on Embrace. We have already had some hefty claims and have not had any issues at all. The staff are courteous and caring. You are not hamstrung with one plan you can tailor a plan to your liking. Embrace is the way to go. Thank you!

Embrace was there prompt and no hassle

We have had coverage on Murphy through Embrace since he was a puppy. He has had minor claims from year to year that I always felt made the coverage worthwhile to continue. Then this year Murphy tore his ACL ligament - an accident that could happen to any dog at any age. Emergency room, then surgery, and a 12 week recovery. He is doing so much better now! Embrace paid $2k as quickly and efficiently as his minor claims, no questions, no hassles, just a reimbursement check. I would highly recommend Embrace!

One of the best decisions we ever made

To our complete surprise and dismay, our 6 month old puppy was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and needed total hip replacement surgery. Embrace has been great from his initial diagnosis through his surgery and recovery! The majority of our claims have been paid with minimal out of pocket money.

Everyone should have pet insurance!

My two dogs have had surgeries and illnesses I couldn’t have imagined when they were young. I knew I wanted to plan for and protect them so I got pet insurance as early as I could (which looking back, was a great decision on my part) and we have used it a few times. My little one is about to go into his second bladder stone surgery, which is heart-breaking, but at least I know that I can care for him, that we have options, that the cost isn’t a concern and that his health can be my priority, and that Trupanion supports us in his treatment and recovery! My rate per month is so low (really low!) and my deductible is high (at my own choosing) but totally manageable when we’ve needed it. I would recommend pet insurance a million times over. When I am at the vet, they do a majority direct bill after my deductible is met, so I’m not even out of pocket. For me, it’s way more than peace of mind, it’s keeping my family healthy and safe and well, and I am beyond grateful to Trupanion for being there alongside me to care for my boys. Just get pet insurance!! I have several friends who opted not to get it, but have ultimately spent several thousands of dollars on care later and wished they had insurance after all. If you never need it, you are so fortunate, but if you do, you’ll never regret having gotten it and Trupanion has been amazing to us, so I’m very happy to recommend them.

Claim process is easy and quick. I also had a few phone conversations with an agent when Cleo was diagnosed and I felt they were genuinely concerned for her well being. I like that they had empathy for what we were going through.

Very slow claims

I submitted a claim 2 weeks ago and it has not been processed. I called customer service and was told they are experiencing high claim volume and they are not able to keep up. I was told the company is growing and is experiencing growing pains and they are in the process of hiring more employees. Honestly this is not my problem. Maybe they should stop writing new policies and control their growth and focus on their existing customers. If I had known this I would not have taken a policy with them. There are lots of other pet insurance companies out there. Think twice before selecting figo.

Questions

I could have avoided the call if I had been previously informed that more info was required. It was also my understanding that you would contact the Hope Center for all records that were lacking (which would have resolved my issue sooner). After calling, I received an email that merely said you needed an itemization of the charges -- I have sent a request on to the surgeons, but was wondering why this was not directed to the surgeon directly?
