As a final note, I give Trupanion “100 Extra Credit Points” for hiring customer service associates who always speak American English on the telephone—highly unusual in today's world. I would recommend (and have done so) Trupanion to others looking for pet insurance for several reasons: 1. When my dog's life was in balance, having pre-approved Trupanion coverage ensured that we could get the care for him that we would not have otherwise been able to afford. 2. In most instances, the responses and payments have been prompt 3. The Trupanion insurance is not pro-rated for your dogs age 4. Trupanion does not place ceilings on the dollar amount of a yearly total or a total for certain drugs as I know other insurance companies do. However... 1. The premiums for Trupanion are high, putting them above what many pet owners can afford This would be reason that I would hesitate to recommend Trupanion to others...the cost restraint.
