Rehab coverage
I wish you would have told me about the rehab not being covered when I signed up for my original contract. I didn't know it was a separate cost or I would have paid for it upfront. Now I'm having to pay 100% of the pet costs & it's an outrageous amount of money. If Codi needs more then 2 months of it, I will have to consider putting her down which would be devastating after all the work we've done to rehab her after surgery.

Found alternative
I have found pet insurance that is cheaper and covers more. Also, the reviews for Trupanion on various websites are terrible.

Multiple items
I'd be more inclined to recommend Trupanion if it wasn't for a few major (to me) things. First, every time I call, I wait on hold for at least 15 minutes! Second, my dog had debris in her ear when I got her as a puppy and I took her to the vet before my coverage kicked in, next time she had an ear issue, the claim was denied because you say it is a pre existing condition. I find that to be absurd. It's not a continued issue...each episode is a new one and she has only had two, so it's not a chronic issue!! Third, I have a large circle of bully breed friends as I work in the bulldog/boxer rescue world. Have now for 14 years. I had to jump through appeals with my bulldogs doctor to get Trupanion to cover her brachiocephalic surgery! Every single bulldog should have this surgery in order to live a full and healthy life!!! If Trupanion is going to continue to cover brachiocephalic dogs, this surgery should be covered without having to go through what we went through to get it covered. I pay a high price monthly for my pups coverage and I expect to be covered on the things she needs. Something to consider.

Wouldn't recommend
I wouldn't recommend Trupanion because they don't pay for much. I ended up paying more in premiums throughout my dog's life and yet very little was covered in return. I had very expensive vet bills I couldn't afford and my dog didn't get the medical care he needed because I couldn't afford to take him in, even with Pet insurance. It wasn't worth it for me.

Conditions
Trupanion is not really interested in my pets. Despite calls explaining why Trupanion should not consider my pet's subluxation as pre-existing, ( 2 different vet's opinion negating that as well as the third vet's opinion who sort of changed her mind that her patella has to be re-examined when she is older, Trupanion was not willing to accept that. In addition, Luna's current problem that I saw , subluxation of her left rear patella laterally, 37 months after her policy became effective would not be covered but Trupanion wants to accept the opinion of the t who claimed she has subluxation of the right rear patella. Despite the fact that this is a different extremity that showed signs and symptoms of subluxation , Trupanion will not cover this extremity calling subluxation is usually bilateral. It is usually bilateral but seen in 45% of small breed. That, is why I withdraw my coverage with Trupanion..
