Trupanion review for dog needing surgery
Have just received excellent service and compassion from Trupanion after my dog was admitted to the emergency hospital. They liaised directly with the vet regarding necessary surgery and called me back promptly to tell me not to worry and that his claim was covered and they would direct bill so I needed to do nothing. They asked me to pass on a big hug to my dog from the staff in their office. My dog is now back home and recovering really well. I have already recommended Trupanion to my dog friends. They took a huge weight off my shoulders with the way they dealt with this matter and I will always be truly grateful.

Completely satisfied
Our initial claim was processed quickly and without any complications. I filed two additional claims for follow up on the same diagnosis. Both claims were handles within a week with no hassle etc. I am very satisfied with Trupanion and would recommend to others.

Amazing!
My 3yr old lab was limping, and FCP in her elbow was diagnosed. I was very worried b/c many pet insurances do not cover elbow problems, but Trupanion paid the full 90% -my deductible and exam fees ($3450.00) immediately! Thank God I decided to go with them.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
