ACL Surgery for 12 year old dog
We switched vets in the fall and our new Vet recommended a 30 day trial with Trupanion after the 30 days I thought I would keep it for awhile longer. I'm glad I did…our 12 year old West Highland Terrier tore his ACL about a month after we extended the trail. We had some initial issues because they, Trupanion, did not have his complete medical records from 4 other Vets and that was a little scary because we new that this was a new issue and not an existing issue and were being told that they couldn't let us know if it was covered until the records were reviewed. My recommendation is to get ALL your records to them when you sign up and update as you go along…then if an issue comes about they will have all of your pets records on file and should be able to answer ALL questions when you submit the claim ALSO look at getting PRE-APPROVED…that would have been a huge help. We had about 3 to 4 days before the surgery and had we started the pre-approval the scariness would not have been there.
Would I recommend this insurance...YES!!! We have never had pet insurance BUT with having 4 dogs at various ages I believe we will be continuing our policies with Trupanion for years to come.
