Out of all companies - by far the best

I have dealt with all the insurance companies for over 18 years on behalf of clients and the only one I didn't have to fight with to get clients claims paid was Trupanion. I now have insurance for my senior dog and my cat with them. I have sent in claims for both and they were handled quickly and efficiently. I am very very happy with Trupanion. Talking to them on the phone is a great experience. They are kind, compassionate and very understanding and go the extra mile. I especially take comfort in the fact that they have no maximums. I found the other companies played games by lowering the amount they paid out if you used them too often and then would cut you off that problem. Trupanion will never do that and it gives me great comfort. My cat has been diagnosed with a long term problem that could get expensive. I can focus on his care and not be concerned about out of pocket expense. His deductible is paid and I'll never have to pay it for his illness again. Thank you Trupanion for working for the client and the pet. To all the staff - well done.

Automatic Payment - WOW!

My claim was paid instantly right at the veterinarian's office! My portion was all I owed! That still amazes me. Thank you for going one more extra mile (on top of the thousands already) to make sure we are well taken care of!

So impressed with Trupanion's coverage for our Basset Hound's second Enucleation (eye removal due to glaucoma)

Our old Bassett Hound Freckles has been covered by Trupanion for most of her life. She's been high maintenance during her sunset years. Trupanion has been excellent covering medication for various conditions and most recently her second eye removal surgery due to glaucoma. Trupanion coverage and speed was excellent. The surgery was over $1100 but we only paid $105. What I love the most is the peace of mind that we can do what is best for our dog.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
