Reimbursement for surgery of a cruciate ligament

My rescue dog,Riley, tore her cruciate ligament while chasing a bunny. She needed surgery to repair the ligament and it was quite costly. We submitted a claim to Trupanion and within 2-3 weeks 90% of the claim was reimbursed to us after we paid the deductible. Riley also has an ongoing liver problem and Trupanion also reimburses us for 90% of the monthly cost for medicine. I am very glad that we made the decision to insure Riley.

So far so good!!

Awhile back I had VPI for medical. They kept raising rates and reimbursing very little. I decided to switch to Trupanion. At first with a high deducible, which we could rarely meet. We recently decided to substantially decrease the deductible; but obviously increasing the monthly premium by quite a bit. Out dog was getting older (10 years) and thought that at that age he 'might' be having more health issues. Well, just a few months after doing so he has had those 'issues'. At this point we have had well over $6,000 in vet and hospital bills. We are still in the process of his diagnosis/treatment. SO far, Trupanion has been VERY understanding and responsive. We shall see how the future goes, but at this point I only have the highest regard for Trupanion. They appear to be very compassionate and responsive. Time will tell, but at this point they have been MUCH better than the prior insurance company. Our Rocky is a miniature Schnauzer about 10 years old. He has VERY high blood pressure which the 'docs' cannot seem to lower or diagnose the cause. HOPEFULLY...this will be resolved soon. Rocky is our boy; part of our family. And this is VERY stressful times. It is good to know that we have a great insurance company who is there to help us through this medical issue. EVERY time I call Trupanion they are VERY helpful and compassionate. NOT like the other company. My suggestion...give them a shot!!

Easy

This is the second claim I've had to file and the process is so easy! Either my vet or myself faxes in the claim with detail receipt and that's all I have to do! I get email updates on how the process is moving along (claim received, claim processed, claim payment mailed) and if any problem arises an email is sent about that too!

Great Service!

I adopted a 5 yr old rescue miniature poodle mix who was very thin. I had already lost a dog to cancer and one to kidney failure so know what a financial burden that can be. I didn't want $ to be the deciding factor on the type of care I was able to provide him. Having no medical background info on him, I decided to research pet insurance. I spent a lot of time looking into the various companies. I chose Trupanion and have been very happy with the Policy benefits. As it turned out, Buddy had stomach problems that started a few months after the adoption and the bills began. Special food, tests, daily meds all trying to control his symptoms. Finally was referred to a gastric specialist (cha-ching!). At this point I was facing an endoscopy and an ultrasound. I figured I better look into that policy I bought! I submitted all the bills I had to that point and spoke with them regarding how much they would pay towards these procedures. Since bills were for the same chronic problem, they applied them to my deductible (per diagnosis). Once that was satisfied, I received payments for 50% of the special vet-Rx canned food & 90% for prescriptions and procedures & will FOR HIS ENTIRE LIFE! Hopefully we will find a cure, but if he requires lifetime meds for this same condition, Trupanion will continue to help pay for them. I fax in my claims, and Trupanion processes them and I have a check usually within a week. Knowing that I could give him the best possib

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
