Ugh!! Money over pet
Your premiums increase like crazy. It makes more sense to put that money away each month and build a little "reserve" for them. Because you will have a hard time actually using it or getting it back (in care) from Trupanion.
Above all they are an insurance company - money money money... When we got our pets and I was blinded by my love for them, I thought I would get the best for them. At the time Trupanion sounded great. Trupanion will send you "cookie cutter" emails, making you think they care, "Thank you for taking such good care of your furry friend". But it's complete BS. All they care about is your $$ (Insurance company!)... After constantly having to go through the appeal process, those emails start to sound very patronizing. They will also contradict what the vet said, and talk down to you in the emails - like you don't know your own pet. Our vet has been flabbergasted with the lack of care Trupanion provides. When it comes back to it, as an insurance company, they will do all they can to NOT support you. Sadly, after several years with them I finally get it.
I will definitely NOT be using them in the future and my family is currently looking at alternatives... Hopefully the cancellation procedure isn't too bad...
