Trupanion pets lead longer happier lives.1 Pets insured with Trupanion lived longer than pets without Trupanion because pet parents didn’t have to worry about the cost of the care their pet needed. Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). They have transformed the way pet insurance handles claims by eliminating the reimbursement process. Trupanion was founded in Canada and provides bets-in-class coverage and is dedicated to helping pets we love get the care they need. They’ve been around for more than 20 years, making them experts and setting standards for the industry. One perk of this, and what they pride themselves on, is the amount they pay out to pet owners for each claim. Paying out more on the dollar than any other pet insurance provider. To date they have paid out $2 Billion in claims and have insured nearly 1 million pets. To put it simply, there is a reason why 98.7% of Trupanion members stay enrolled every month. 1Based on a December, 2020 Trupanion study analyzing third party hospital claims data comparing pets insured with a Trupanion policy to pets without a Trupanion policy. *Terms and conditions apply. Thank goodness for Trupanion

Several years ago we adopted a yorkie female that was 3 years old. Within 3 months of adopting her she developed some problems that resulted in us having to have her put down after we exhausted over $5000 of our savings trying to save her. At that very moment I swore I would never own a pet without insurance so that I am not in a situation where finances make the decision of life or death. Insurance may not have made a difference in the final outcome, but I certainly would have been able to do much more. 2 years ago, we purchased a yorkie puppy. The day I brought home I purchased Trupanion for his protection and my piece of mind. Just recently we made our first claim. Bailey "stole" a bone without our knowledge and ate the entire thing! It appears that tiny pieces of it lodged in his digestive track and made him very sick. We had a policy with zero deductable and 90% coverage and I was so much more comfortable knowing money would never be an issue in his treatment decisions. We were fortunate that we have an excellent vet and we were able to clear his situation without surgery and he made a full recovery. We were reimbursed by Trupanion within 10 days of his discharge. The staff at Trupanion were attentive to us and did everything possible to insure that we recieved speedy claim service. I highly recommend it!

Excellent

As all my claims have been, this one was easy and fast. The vet clinic filed the paperwork and within the day I was notified of the claim amount to be covered and a cheque was posted.

My sanity, in under $100/month

We purchased an impulse puppy, but we wanted to have everything just right for him. At $33/month, we figured insurance was a good idea. He jumped off the couch and face planted on day one, after all. When diagnosed with luxating patella just after his first birthday, we were aghast (one strike against impulse buy!). And then... We learned that the best fix was surgery. The surgery was $2000, complete with medication and X-rays. That's per leg. Both surgeries were done, less my $500 deductible, and a cheque in the mail covering 90% of the remaining cost. All done quickly and electronically. The people are so pleasant to deal with too!

Claims review

My dog ate a rock 2 weeks after I got him. The vet signed me up with Trupanion with his first exam. Trupanion reviewed the claim and paid within the terms of the policy. They processed the claim and were helpful and professional. All the agents were better than any I have experienced with any insurance company.

Bailey's Full Hip Replacement

At eight months old our beautiful great Pyrenees, Bailey, was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. The recommendation was not one but two full hip replacements. It has now been two weeks since her second hip replacement and she is doing very well. Trupanion has been very quick to approve pre approvals as well as send payment for coverage. I love the fact that during the pre approval process for her first surgery, I left the vet and an hour later had a phone call from a Trupanion representative explaining the coverage. The fact that I receive emails with progress reports about our claims puts me at ease about the situation. We have not had to fight to receive funding for anything and that means that when my baby is sick, I am able to concentrate my efforts al on her. Over all, the insurance company has paid about $13000 to help my puppy become healthy.
