Trupanion pets lead longer happier lives.1 Pets insured with Trupanion lived longer than pets without Trupanion because pet parents didn’t have to worry about the cost of the care their pet needed. Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). These people are crooks!
Trupanion is refusing to cover our dog's treatment because they have dug up some old notes from the vet and are using a conversation I had with the vet to claim a pre-existing condition, even though our vet has written a clear letter indicating that there is no proof of a pre-existing condition based on his diagnosis. The vet told us that they have been finding any reason to deny claims and to not have to pay out. We are going to take legal action against this company. DO NOT USE THEM.

Great insurance / great experience
Have had Trupanion for 5 yrs for my dog, a wonderful rescue. For last 2 yes she's had a couple of issues including hospitalization for 3 days. My bill was over $4000! Trupanion was wonderful-- they provided a pre hospitalization estimate so I knew what was covered and what wasn't. They covered most expense at 90%!! Not even people insurance does that. I received my reimbursement even before my credit bill arrived and most importantly the people I spoke to were so nice, professional and caring. Try to get that elsewhere. My monthly premium is worth it -- and now they cover dental -- my vet couldn't believe it until she read my policy and is now letting her patients know. Trupanion is the BEST👏🐾👌

TG for Trupanion!
Our darling little Havanese rescue was just dx'd with bladder stones with a total, so far, of ~$2K in costs! Trupanion didn't blink an eye, paid a significant portion, and with this peace of mind, we can go forward. No worries about choosing between caring for our pup, and paying our routine bills, eating out, and planning vacations! THANK YOU, Trupanion!

Excellent service and response time
My male lab had a torn ACL requiring expensive surgery (over $4K). Trupanion paid the full 90% of the bill less the deductible. I'm surprised and happy. Now I have all 3 dogs insured for slightly over $100/month. The customer service reps are the best! They are helpful and pleasant to talk to. Everyone seems to have pets and good stories.
Got reimbursed in under 10 days.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
