Out of the norm disease diagnoses for out breed
I decided to get pet insurance for out new pup as he was a rescue and we were unsure of his past and any past health issues. I was glad we did for peace of mind but it turned out we needed it when our dog was having chronic diahrreah for just over a month. We were seeing the vet at least once a week if not more to run different tests and what not. The vet was finally able to diagnose our pup with Endocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, which pretty much means our dog wasn't absorbing any of the food we fed him and he was losing a lot of weight. His diagnoses means a lifelong enzyme suppliment that he needs to take daily. Because we decided to get insurance they have helped with the costs of all the associated testing in order to get a diagnoses as well as cover his medications and even some of his specialty foods that were needed in the first few months of treatments. Not all diseases can be expected within a breed and our case runs very true for us. Our pup is a large breed mix which is most likely a wolfhound/Airedale mix but his disease is typically only seen in German shepards. But who knows, he's a rescue and we can't be certain of his mix. Great investment
