I would never own another pet without Vetinsurance

In July of 2007 we were fortunate enough to meet the new love of our lives; Cooper, a 8 week old Golden Retriever puppy. We were told when we purchased this little fellow that pure Goldens sometimes have issues and it would be in our best interest to purchase Dog Insurance. After doing alittle research we settled on Vetinsurance (Canada) / Trupaion (U.S.A.). As it turns out this may have been the best thing we could have ever done; you see cooper got very, very sick at 7 months old and we thought we would surely lose what had become our best friend. At the time your pet is sick you never think of the money or time that you spend but as we all know when the crisis is over which ever way it turns out there is always the cost to contend with. Hopefully the cost is only finacial.....well I am happy to say the finacial aspect was the only cost and by the time we had spoken with Vetinsurance we knew that was not much of a cost at all. Our medical bills were just over $1,200.00 Dollars and Vetinsurance reinbursed us for over $1,100.00 dollars. It was a very difficult time for our family as it would be for anyone but our story turned out great and that was in no small part to Vetinsurance / Trupaion. I would highly recomend this company to anyone looking for Pet Insurance. I want everyone who is reading this to understand I have never witten a statement like this before and may never again but please believe me when I say this is honestly some of the best money I have ever spent, and the only reason I do not give this a 10 is because nothing is absolutely perfect, but this is pretty close for an Insurance company.

Terrific!

Paid 90% - paid 1st claim within 10 days of filing - 2nd claim almost immediately! So glad we have Trupanion on our side! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I'm Amazed

My 11 month old chocalate lab puppy caught a nasty bout off Colitis. I got him to the Vet and he needed tests to rule out obstructions, bloodwork and stayed overnight to get IV and medication to get everything under control. My Vet and I filled out all the paperwork and sent all his records since it was our first claim. I faxed all the information this morning and by this evening I was notified that my claim was approved minus my deductible and I would be receiving $435 on my claim. I figured at least 2 to 3 weeks, and can't believe that it was processed soo quickly. I'm relieved to know Guinness is covered and that this company will come through.

Paid 1st claim as promised

This was my first claim with Trupanion. I just signed up a little over a month ago and my puppy already got sick. I called Trupanion and they encouraged me to take my puppy in. I did and Trupanion quickly turned my claim around.

Careful

As I thought this company cared about pets, one has to remember that it is still a business. I insured my less than a year old puppy and added hip dysplasia insurance. Upon bringing her to the vet for a regular checkup, my vet said that she was standing "odd". I did not think anythin of it, but my vet wanted to do an x-ray. I let him, only for him to come back letting me know she has hip dysplasia. I was shocked and did not even see this coming! I collected all the relevant forms and followed all the instructions from the Trupanion website. I faxed everything in, just claiming the x-ray and meds. Trupanion emailed me that day notifying that they refuse to pay. There reasoning: the condition was found within the first 30 days of my insurance -- I only had two more weeks to go. I called to see if any further coverage would be available after the 30 days and was told "no". I even explained that I did not even know and that it was not even my choice to get the x-ray done then! Trupanion still refused. I realize that it is in their policy but there has to be an exception in some cases. I could even have the vet write a letter explaining that it was his idea and not mine, but that would still do no good. Since Trupanion has done absolutely nothing for me, I asked for a refund for my coverage (2 months) and was refused on that as well. They just offered a $5 refund on the hip dysplasia. To everyone out there, be wary on your policy start date and allow your pet to suffer until the 30 days is up. This is was Trupanion forces you to do.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
