They really are the best. I have never had any issue getting claims paid, and their customer service representatives are extremely friendly and helpful.

Toby my Great Dane
I will begin with the coupon. I was given a coupon for buy one night get 2 free boarding nights at Pet Smart. My family and I were going on a 4 night vacation out of state and decided to cash in on the 2 free nights. This particular Pet Smart had a doggy day camp available so to reduce Toby's (my Great Dane) anxiety I was going to have him play the day I dropped him off and the last day when we were to pick him up.
I dropped Toby off as planned and we were off on our vacation, 30 minutes before my flight was to take off I receive a call from Pet Smart saying Toby has thrown up 3 times and it was their policy to have a vet look at him. While the flight attendent is asking me to turn off my phone I'm speaking with the on call vet telling them to call my vet and listen to what ever they tell you. I had to turn the phone off or proboby be thrown off the plane.
We land 3 hours later and I have a message they have driven Toby over to my vet and my vet (who owns great danes herself) was suspicious enough of Toby's situation she had to have X-rays taken. There was a small blockage which medication was able to take care of and fortunatly my wife's parents and brother could watch Toby the remainder of our vacation.
I started out thinking 2 free nights with doggy day camp we were only going to spend $85 for 4 nights sounds great! It ended up being $15 for time spent at Pet Smart and their vet, and $754.35 in care from my vet. Trupanion covered $678.92 and I only spen

Made a Claim
My pet Insurance company, Trupanion,is a positive cooperative and caring company.I have in the past called and actually talked with a service rep to explain to me if I have coverage for certain claims. My latest claim came back for my lab/german shephard 100 lb dog's torn knee ligament, which involved serious surgery.The claim came back within two weeks,and during that time,they kept in contact,as to when they received the claim,when it was being processed and when it was sent back to me.No other company of any kind has given me that kind of resolve. I was very impressed,that my money was not tied up for weeks or even months for reimbursement.

I am so happy we got insurance for our pets!
We live in Florida and have two puppies, one pup is just a year old and the other is six months old. When we took the younger one to be neutered, prior to the procedure his liver blood work tested abnormal and required specialty testing which included sending the blood sample overnight to Cornell University in New York. I doubted that it would be covered, but we submitted it to Trupanion and were thrilled to discover they covered 90% after our $50 deductible. It took only a couple of days to process and we received a check the following week.

Very efficient
Trupanion processed my claim very efficiently, keeping me informed as to the progress, and issued a payment without any problems.
Monthly Cost
Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.
Coverage
Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.
Payout Limits
The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit.
That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.
Deductible
If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.
Age Limits
All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details.
However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like many other pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
